Dean (Patrick O’Connor) and Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) have recently had their worlds turned upside down by the discovery that Dean has a five year old son with his old flame from Mangrove River, Amber (Madeleine Jevic). He meets little Jai (River Jarvis) and Ziggy is faced with watching a family unit bond in the Bay.
Unable to handle the changes to their relationship, Ziggy moves back to her parents’ house to give Dean space to work out what the new arrangements and routine with his son will be. They meet up for dinner after time apart, and she is cautious with him.
Not wanting to lose Ziggy, Dean confesses the truth – he still loves her and he wants both his relationship with her and the new one with Jai to work out. However, they reach the uneasy conclusion that they don’t know how it will pan out, and Ziggy leaves.
The next day, Dean is feeling the pressure to discuss co-parenting with Amber. However, it’s clear she is only willing to talk if she can negotiate her terms – in other words, a relationship with him. Dean makes it clear he doesn’t want the same and won’t be leaving Ziggy.
However, Amber reacts to the rejection by refusing to give him a straight answer about co-parenting with Jai, which only leaves Dean unable to resolve things with Ziggy. How will he keep both Amber and Ziggy happy while also getting to know his son?
