In the aftermath of Maggie’s (Kestie Morassi) bombshell revelation about the fact she slept with Ben’s (Rohan Nichol) brother Marco (Tim Walter) just before getting back together with him, Ben has been struggling to reconnect with his wife or begin contemplating forgiving her for two decades of betrayal.
Deciding to move into Coco’s (Anna Cocquerel) room while he remains at the Farm House with her, Maggie is faced with silence or a refusal to engage with conversation whenever she tries. To make things worse, Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) is also refusing to return her mother’s calls.
At the Surf Shop, John (Shane Withington) is concerned to see that Ben is looking a bit rough around the edges. He asks if everything is OK but Ben insists he’s fine before taking some medication. John presumes it’s painkillers but Ben says they’re his antidepressants and John quickly backs off.
Later, Ben agrees to have dinner with Maggie, but it isn’t long before he can’t cope with her small talk – it’s like nothing happened. He gets up to leave, but he is looking sweaty. Maggie asks him what’s wrong, and Ben says he’s lost his vision before collapsing.
Ben is rushed to hospital, where Tori (Penny McNamee) is confused by his symptoms and asks Maggie what he might have taken to induce his condition. Maggie is forced to admit they haven’t had much contact lately, and she is further alarmed when Ben suddenly has a seizure…
