As UK viewers settle into the second week of Home and Away following its festive break, there is plenty on the horizon to keep them entertained. The future is looking bleak for Colby (Tim Franklin) as Angelo (Luke Jacobz) closes in on both his murder secret and his affair with Taylor (Annabelle Stephenson), while Justin’s (James Stewart) struggles with radiotherapy lead to shocking results.
Elsewhere, Roo (Georgie Parker) is back in the Bay – but why is she alone, and what happened to Owen (Cameron Daddo)? Much as Marilyn (Emily Symons) and Leah (Ada Nicodemou) try to sit down with her for a chat, Roo is determined to keep busy however possible – even if that means baking enough treats to feed the entire Bay.
The Paratas are having their fair share of trouble, as Tane (Ethan Browne) is devastated to find that Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) and Willow (Sarah Roberts) disposed of the van which was full of stolen goods. Realising the guys who want the van are still after him, it isn’t long before the entire family is in danger.
As if that wasn’t enough, Dean’s (Patrick O’Connor) troubles aren’t over either – although he has finally returned to the Bay with little Jai (River Jarvis) in tow, Amber (Madeleine Jevic) is behaving strangely and Willow picks up on it. She tells Dean about her suspicion, and Dean is heartbroken when he discovers what Amber has done…
Here’s what’s coming up in Home and Away this week.
The heat is on for Tane
Ziggy and Willow are back from their girls’ trip to get rid of the illegal van which has been sitting at the Farm House. However, Tane had finally surfaced after his extended trip to the city while they were gone, and he’s devastated to learn the stolen gear is gone. He tells Ziggy that there was more than electronics in the van – the walls were lined with drugs. Now the gang will be after not just Tane, but his entire family. Tane tells Ziggy to distance herself from the situation, but how will he protect the Paratas?
Roo returns with a mystery
It’s been a while since Roo and Owen drove off together to seek adventure, but now Alf’s daughter has popped back up in the Bay – and her new partner is nowhere to be found. While her friends are full of questions about how her trip went, Roo expertly dodges them and refuses to talk about Owen. Marilyn is suspicious, and as Roo carries on behaving oddly – even busying herself by making tray upon tray of baked goods – Alf (Ray Meagher) also starts wondering what’s going on, with Roo’s friends beginning to suspect Owen did something to her…
Dean’s new family is torn apart
Dean has finally seen sense and returned to the Bay, but Amber is much more relaxed about the situation than Willow suspected she would be. Dean explains himself to her, and Amber simply says she understands. Willow is convinced Amber has plans, and when she appears the next day with Jai to say goodbye to Dean before he heads to school, Willow asks afterwards why Jai wasn’t in his uniform. Immediately expecting the worst, Dean rushes to Amber’s house – but the place is empty. She and Jai have disappeared….
Justin’s radiotherapy has devastating effects
Justin has begun his radiotherapy, but problems immediately arise as he struggles to eat. However, he and Leah are distracted by the blossoming romance between Tori (Penny McNamee) and Christian (Ditch Davey). After spending time together on the beach, Tori invites him back to the house for dinner – only to have it become clear she can’t cook. To Justin and Leah’s delight, they realise Christian stayed over – but as Justin gets out of bed to investigate, he collapses…
Martha struggles to let go
Alf and Martha (Belinda Giblin) return to the Bay, but it’s clear all isn’t well between them. At the Diner, Alf quizzes Marilyn about Roo’s mysterious return, but Martha points out that he shouldn’t broadcast his daughter’s business in public. At home, the disagreements about Roo continue, but it’s clear the pair are avoiding the real issue they’re at odds about. Finally, Alf asks Martha if she’s going to sell her place in Merimbula, but she insists she wants to hold onto it. Alf is hurt and confused, so Irene (Lynne McGranger) steps in to find out the real reason why she won’t fully commit to life in the Bay…
The Paratas receive unwanted guests
In the aftermath of Tane’s van being disposed of, the dealer and gang who got Tane to shift the stolen goods and drugs inside the vehicle are intent on making sure the entire Parata family pays for his mistake. Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) notices the men gathering outside, and goes to see them. He makes it clear they need to leave, but the gang begins a massive brawl – which results in Tane and Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) running out to get involved. Bella (Courtney Miller), Mackenzie (Emily Weir) and Ryder (Lukas Radovich) stand by, shocked – until Ryder decides to call the police. Bella is furious when the cops show up, forced to watch Colby arrest Nikau and push him into the back of a police car…
Angelo closes in
Colby returns from a night with Taylor, only to have Bella and Willow corner him. Bella reveals that Angelo knows all about the affair, and Taylor is beside herself when she finds out the news. However, both of them convince themselves Angelo doesn’t really know – because he’s not confronted either of them about it. Colby decides to get access to Angelo’s files, getting Taylor to steal a key from his office so he can open up the drawer. When Angelo walks in, he sees Colby snooping around – and the affair is completely exposed…
A witness emerges for Colby’s murder trial
Colby’s affair with Taylor isn’t the only situation on Angelo’s radar – he’s also been working on Colby’s murder case. Convinced Colby is the one who murdered Ross Nixon (Justin Rosniak), Bella’s father, we discover that a witness has come forward when Angelo calls the inspector to seek a sanction to arrest Colby. The inspector says the case could be stronger, but doesn’t oppose him making the arrest. Will Angelo arrest Colby and take the final steps to getting him locked up for murder?
Scenes air from Monday 11th January on Channel 5.
