Pesticides are bad for the environment and can even damage other plants and wildlife. Therefore, it is best to get rid of weeds from your garden using tools or natural products, such as lemon juice.
Daisy Payne is a gardening expert who regularly appears on This Morning to share her tips with fellow avid gardeners.
Today, Daisy spoke to Eamonn and Ruth about ways viewers can banish weeds from their garden.
The gardener stressed “it’s important we get rid of weeds” because they can “take over the plants that you love”.
One tip Daisy shared to remove weeds is to use the “no dig method”.
The garden expert said: “One of my preferred options [to remove weeds] is a really organic way, which is the no dig method.
“This is perfect for if you’ve got a really big space or a veg patch like this, and there are lots of weeds popping up that you want to get control on them.
“There’s no digging involved. You get yourself some layers of cardboard, place it down over the weedy area, make sure it’s firm down, plenty of layers.
“Then it will see off those weeds. It will kill them off because they won’t be getting any light or any nutrients.

“So that is a fantastic way of getting rid of a big space of weeds.”
Daisy went on to explain which tools are best to get rid of weeds.
A hoe can get “weeds out from the root”, which is the best way to ensure that the weeds don’t keep growing and spreading in your garden.
Daisy said this can be done with perennial weeds, which are “the ones you really want to get rid of”.
Hoes can be found for cheap in gardening centres or even supermarkets.
“Get under there, get that tap root out, and banish it for good,” Daisy said, using a hoe to remove a weed in her lawn.
As for patio weeds, Daisy suggested using a natural product found in many households.
She said: “One of my top tips for banishing these is lemon juice.
“And for me it’s really important that you don’t use pesticides in your garden.
“It’s bad for the environment, it’s bad for the wildlife, and the eco-systems you’re supporting in your garden.”
Daisy advised spraying lemon juice on the weeds and, in a couple of weeks, this will cause them to die.
“Lemon juice is fantastic,” the garden expert added.
