The truth about Jimmy Kimmel’s wife Molly McNearney

Jimmy Kimmel is an American television host and comedian who has become a common household name due to his TV show, Jimmy Kimmel, Live! Kimmel is known to have success on his show as well as in radio and as a voice actor in multiple animated films and shows.

Known for his hilarious pranks on children, Kimmel himself has four children, two of which are with current wife, Molly McNearney. But who exactly is Molly McNearney?

McNearney and Kimmel have been together for 10 years. The two met on his show when McNearney started as a writer’s assistant. Although Kimmel is very public in other aspects of his life, he doesn’t talk much about his relationship with his wife. Recently, McNearny opened up about their relationship and told Glamour what her first impression of Kimmel was.

“When I first met him, he insulted me!” she said. “The executive producer brought me into his office and said, ‘This is Molly; she’s my new assistant.’ Jimmy barely looked up from his desk until my EP said, ‘She competes in triathlons,’ and then Jimmy looked up at me and said, ‘That is really stupid! What a waste of time.’ That was the first and only thing he probably said to me the entire first year of working there.”

The two later became friends, and things changed in 2009 when they started dating — and three years later, Kimmel proposed. But aside from being Kimmel’s wife, who is Molly McNearney?

Molly McNearney is a writer and producer

McNearney is a writer and producer who not only assisted with the 68th Primetime Emmys and worked on Big Night of Stars, but co-writes her husband’s show Jimmy Kimmel, Live! (via Cheatsheet). McNearney shared that at first she was hesitant to date her boss, but later gave in after Kimmel’s persistence.

In her interview with Glamour, she revealed she does her best to keep their work and personal lives separate, including getting to the office separately.

“At 10 a.m. he’s my boss, not my husband,” she said. “He does say he’s my ‘husboss,’ but I refuse to call him that.”

Molly McNearney is an activist

McNearney is more than just a writer, she is also a human rights activist known for advocating for children’s healthcare. Her activism sparked when her second child with Kimmel was born with a congenital heart defect in 2017.

Both she and Kimmel decided instead of keeping quiet about the situation, they would discuss their son Billy’s condition on the ABC late-night show. At the time, the Affordable Care Act was on the verge of congressional repeal and the two thought this would be a great opportunity to discuss access to health care, as well as explain Kimmel’s week-long absence (via the Hollywood Reporter). McNearney was still on maternity leave but watched the show at home and sobbed through the entire segment.

“I couldn’t believe the strength that it took to tell that story a week after it happened,” she said. “He didn’t have to do that. Our family has excellent health care; he had nothing to gain from that. He did it for the other people whom we met in that hospital. He came home that night, and I just hugged him and I wouldn’t let go.”

McNearney and Kimmel seem to have a very strong relationship and continue to support healthcare advocacy through their individual social media accounts. According to Cheatsheet, the couple holds strong in family values and McNearney maintains a healthy relationship with not only her stepchildren, but Kimmel’s exes as well.

Chrissy Teigen Jokes About Her Parents' Divorce: 'Two Christmases!'

The Chrissy Teigen method for coping with divorce. The model, 33, made light of the news that her parents, Ron Teigen Sr. and Vilailuck “Pepper” Teigen, split and filed to dissolve their marriage.

Journalist Karen Valby revealed via Twitter on Tuesday, November 5, that Chrissy and Pepper discussed the breakup during an interview for the Cravings author’s December Vanity Fair cover story with husband John Legend. “’Two Christmases!’ Chrissy said she told her parents, trying to make a joke,” the reporter recalled.

Valby referred to the marriage as “long more of a friendship” that is now “coming to an end,” adding: “Life goes on.”

Us Weekly confirmed that Ron filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He claimed “irreconcilable differences” caused the separation, which he listed as occurring in January 2017. The estranged couple, whose case type is listed as a “dissolution without minor children,” are also parents of daughter Tina.

Chrissy, for her part, told Us exclusively in January 2018 that her mother resides with her and Legend as well as the pair’s two children, Luna, 3, and Miles, 17 months. “So my mom lives with us,” she explained at the time. “Everybody is like, ‘Where’s your dad?’”

Pepper’s most recent Instagram photo with Ron was posted in December 2017. She held Luna and smiled alongside her husband as the family celebrated Christmas.

Chrissy, meanwhile, acknowledged her mother’s vital role in her life in a 2017 interview. “My mom lives with us. I have hair and makeup people. I’m not getting up and doing all this by myself,” she admitted to Sports Illustrated at the time. “If I’m not being done for something, I’m not going anywhere. A lot of hands go into it. We have help. It’s important for people to know that.”

I Have Mom Guilt About Not Protesting With My Kids

My 9-year-old stands with her underwear pulled up to just underneath her little sports bra. She looks like a little Wonder Woman with untidy hair. Her dad has just told her she needs to stop pulling her underwear up to her armpits and instead put a robe or pjs on.

“You don’t get to tell me what to do with my body!” is my daughter’s retort of choice. “Only I get to decide about MY body.”

I’m proud of her, but her standing up for her rights also gives me a familiar twinge of guilt that I didn’t bring my daughter to the Women’s March to rally for those rights. Nor did we go to the recent Moms Demand Action Meeting, or get involved in the rally outside my Congressman’s office. I feel guilt reading about yet another recent shooting — and not bringing my daughter to a protest against gun violence. I feel guilty that the only action I took was writing my representatives.

My life, right now, is a constant tornado of guilt.

Don’t worry; I still have traditional mom guilt too, of course. I have to make sure we have 20 minutes of reading a night, we have math to look over and review, we have to eat supper, there are showers, and there are the random questions about monkeys going to space that take us into endless conversations. I lose my patience after a long day of work doing these “mom duties” that I want to enjoy, but I’m too tired to.

Then, I have the added guilt of a person that deeply cares about the (currently abysmal) status of our country. I no longer believe that someone else will fix it if I don’t take action. I have become more interested in volunteering, and yet as the interest goes up, I watch my stamina go down.

I want to teach my daughter, through experience, the beauty of demonstrations for the sake of democracy, but I have the plague that the children caught from school this week. I’m afraid to get too far away from the bathroom.  I want to bring my girls to the Mom’s Demand Action meeting because I believe in what they are doing. I want to show them how powerful organizing and exchanging ideas can be. However, there was a lice scare this week and I am rewashing every stuffed animal, bed sheet and hairbrush this weekend. I want to go to the office of my Representative to show my daughters how we remind them they work for us. The problem is I don’t know when I’m going to get to take the girls to visit my parents again and they really want to see their grandparents. Family matters too. The climate change action taskforce is meeting and I want us to go learn about recycling, but how do I do that when the girls are already overtired and at each other’s throats?

The political guilt sits in my gut. It cuddles up to the mom guilt and they trade barbs about who is failing more. Sometimes I realize that they aren’t mutually exclusive. When I fail to teach civics, I also fail to show them the tools to be an adult. That is the main goal of parenting.

Other times, like now, I see my daughter standing tall with her underwear up to her chin, telling her father that she knows her body belongs to her, and standing proudly. In those brief moments, the guilt subsides and I let myself be proud of the work I’ve done. I see that I haven’t gotten to fight publicly, but I have been teaching lessons in my house. I teach lessons of equality and lessons of confidence. I wish I was doing it at marches and activism rallies, but I’m not able to do it all right now. Forgive me?

For those on the outside, it may appear my days are spent idle. I haven’t made the splash that I want to in fighting what I see as dissolution of decency and the rollback of equality. I have been frustrated with my inability to focus on enough things to make a difference. I feel small and ineffective in a world that keeps dragging out the worst in people. The guilt seeps in. Today,

I finally see something that I hadn’t before. Here in my living room, I see that I’m cultivating the change. Please be patient with me while I build them up to fight the good fight. Maybe I can give myself a break too. I don’t have the endurance to do all that needs to be done, but it doesn’t mean that I am idle.

The Best Fan Theories About the Final Season of 'Criminal Minds'

Criminal Minds only has one season left and there is still a lot of unanswered questions. How will everything end? Fans have a number of theories as to what might happen in the final season. Many of these theories revolve around the current JJ and Reid drama. Read on for potential spoilers for season 15 of Criminal Minds.

What will happen with JJ and Reid?

There are quite a few theories about how things are going to play out between, Jennifer “JJ” Jareau (A.J. Cook) and Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler). Viewers will remember that during the finale of season 14, JJ revealed some startling new information that left fans blatantly shocked. While being held at gunpoint by an unsub, JJ spilled some details to Reid that she’s actually been secretly in love with him for a while.

“Spence, um, I’ve always loved you. And I was just too scared to say it before. And now things are just really too complicated to say now,” JJ tells Reid. “I’m sorry, but you should know.” Both of them smile at each other during the tense, yet heartfelt moment. It’s a surprising move on JJ’s part considering she is supposed to be happily married with a family of her own. It’s also very understandable with how much time they spend together and how close they are.

Reid will have a new love interest

It has already been revealed that Reid will have a new woman in his life in the final season. TVLine reported that Rachael Leigh Cook will play Max, Reid’s new love interest and she will appear in at least two of the last 10 episodes in the series. What could this mean for JJ and Reid?

When talking about the casting of Reid’s new love interest, fans have a lot of thoughts on what will happen with her. “Do you guys thinkthey’re releasing this info as damage control?” oneReddit user inquired. “100%. But there’s no way she survives to the end ofthe season with Reid’s luck,” another responded.

“Omg she’s awesome! But I have some weird inexplicablefeeling that she’s just a plot device in the whole Jeid situation…,” anotheruser wrote.

Will Reid’s new love interest die?

Fans are obviously hoping to see some sort of conclusion whenit comes to the two of them, whatever it may be. “Knowing the pain the writerslike to pile on Reid, love interest will probably die before the season is over,”oneReddit user noted. “It’s either he loses her or his mother. It’ll beinteresting to see the fallout with JJ and Reid. The love interest seems to bedamage control after the reactions from the non-shippers. If they do end uppushing this JJ and Reid thing, it better not be after either Reid’s new loveinterest or Will dies. I wouldn’t put it past these writers though.”

Reid and his new love could end up happy in the end

“Ten episodes isn’t a lot so I’m wary that they’re going to try and cram everything and the kitchen sink into those episodes,” a Reddit user wrote. “At the very least i’d like Reid and this new girl to be happy and someone (my vote is Emily or Rossi) to come along and talk some sense into JJ.”

Some fans just really just want to see everyone end up happy. “I know it’s corny, but I just want them to all end up alive and happy,” another user wrote.

“On the one hand, I’m not gonna lie that I’m a little sadthat the whole Reid/JJ thing will not be explored much further,” another Reddituser said. “But on the other hand, I do like the idea of Reid findinghappiness in general, and I am intrigued about this new woman in his life, soI’m curious to see how this goes :).”

Fans will hopefully get some definitive answers to their questions about the final season soon. Criminal Minds will be back with ten more episodes to conclude the iconic series.

Tech execs warn military about unintended harm caused by AI in combat

Tech leaders from Google, Microsoft, and Facebook suggest ethics guidelines for using AI in the military to avoid ‘unintended harm to humans’

  • The Defense Innovation Board made 12 recommendations for AI in the military
  • The Board warns against unintended adverse consequences of using AI
  • Members include tech execs from Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and LinkedIn

This week, the Defense Innovation Board issued a series of recommendations to the Department of Defense on how artificial intelligence should be implemented in future military conflict.

The Defense Innovation Board was first created in 2016 to establish a series of best practices on potential collaborations between the US military and Silicon Valley.

There are sixteen current board members from a broad number of disciplines, including former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Facebook executive Marne Levine, Microsoft’s Chief Digital Officer Kurt Delbene, astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, Steve Jobs biographer Walter Isaacson, and LinkedIn co-founded Reid Hoffman.

Scroll down for video

‘Now is the time, at this early stage of the resurgence of interest in AI, to hold serious discussions about norms of AI development and use in a military context—long before there has been an incident.’ the report says.

The report says that using AI for military actions or decision-making comes with ‘the duty to take feasible precautions to reduce the risk of harm to the civilian population and other protected persons and objects.’

The report outlines five ethical principles that should be at the heart of every major decision related to using AI in the military.

AI in the military should always be: Responsible, Equable, Traceable, Reliable, and Governable.

WHAT ARE THE RECOMMENDATIONS?

The  Defense Innovation Board defined five ethical principles for using AI in the military: Responsible, Equable, Traceable, Reliable, and Governable.

Based on these five principles it recommended the following 12 things:

1. Formalize these principles via official DoD channels.

2. Establish a DoD-wide AI Steering Committee.

3.  Cultivate and grow the field of AI engineering.

4. Enhance DoD training and workforce programs.

5. Invest in research on novel security aspects of AI.

6. Invest in research to bolster reproducibility.

7. Define reliability benchmarks.

8. Strengthen AI test and evaluation techniques.

9. Develop a risk management methodology.

10. Ensure a proper implementation of AI ethics principles.

 11. Expand research into understanding how to implement AI ethics principles.

12. Convene an annual conference on AI safety, security, and robustness.

Going off these principles the report makes twelve concrete recommendations for how to move forward integrating AI in contemporary warfare.

The Board recommends creating a risk management strategy that would formalize a taxonomy of negative outcomes.

The purpose of this taxonomy would be to ‘encourage and incentivize the rapid adoption of mature technologies in low-risk applications, and emphasize and prioritize greater precaution and scrutiny in applications that are less mature and/or could lead to more significant adverse consequences.’

The report recommends the development of a risk management methodology to account for all the potential negative outcomes that could come from deferring a significant amount of work or decision-making to a computer.

The Board also emphasize the importance of developing specific benchmarks to evaluate the reliability of AI as it compares to human performance in military setting.

In the same spirit, the Board encourages the military to create a rating for how reproducible an AI driven outcome or action is, so as to minimize the prevalence of unintended consequences.

A number of other recommendations are mainly administrative.

One calls for the creation of an official Department of Defense policy communications channel to make announcements and field questions different stakeholders.

Another recommendation calls for the creation of an internal ‘AI Steering Committee’ to oversee any current or future AI programs, and organizing workforce AI training in the department.

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt (pictured above) is one of the members of the Defense Innovation Board, which was formed in 2016 to help encourage cooperation between Silicon Valley and the US Army

The report comes as a potential check on an earlier report from the Pentagon that recommended making AI a major focus of the future, something that would help keep America ahead of Russia and China compete for influence around the world.

This summer the Army announced it was developing a new missile system, called Cannon-Delivered Area Effects Munition (C-DAEM), that would use AI for guidance.

In 2018, Google declined to renew the contract for Project Maven, an AI initiative the company ran with the Department of Defense that helped train drones to identify potential military targets.

More than 3,000 Google employees signed a letter protesting the project.

WHAT IS PROJECT MAVEN?

The U.S. military has been looking to incorporate elements of artificial intelligence and machine learning into its drone program.

Project Maven, as the effort is known, aims to provide some relief to military analysts who are part of the war against Islamic State.

These analysts currently spend long hours staring at big screens reviewing video feeds from drones as part of the hunt for insurgents in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Pentagon is trying to develop algorithms that would sort through the material and alert analysts to important finds, according to Air Force Lieutenant General John N.T. ‘Jack’ Shanahan, director for defense intelligence for warfighting support.

A British Royal Air Force Reaper hunter killer unmanned aerial vehicle on the flight line February 21, 2014 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.  Military bosses say intelligence analysts are ‘overwhelmed’ by the amount of video being recorded over the battlefield by drones with high resolution cameras

‘A lot of times these things are flying around(and)… there’s nothing in the scene that’s of interest,’ he told Reuters.

Shanahan said his team is currently trying to teach the system to recognize objects such as trucks and buildings, identify people and, eventually, detect changes in patterns of daily life that could signal significant developments.

‘We’ll start small, show some wins,’ he said.

A Pentagon official said the U.S. government is requesting to spend around $30 million on the effort in 2018.

Similar image recognition technology is being developed commercially by firms in Silicon Valley, which could be adapted by adversaries for military reasons.

Shanahan said he’ not surprised that Chinese firms are making investments there.

‘They know what they’re targeting,’ he said.

Research firm CB Insights says it has tracked 29 investors from mainland China investing in U.S. artificial intelligence companies since the start of 2012.

The risks extend beyond technology transfer.

‘When the Chinese make an investment in an early stage company developing advanced technology, there is an opportunity cost to the U.S. since that company is potentially off-limits for purposes of working with (the Department of Defense),’ the report said.

Kate Upton decries 'dumb misogynist comments' about World Series call

Kate Upton decries the ‘dumb misogynist comments’ she received after tweeting about controversial World Series call

She’s married to Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander.

So naturally Kate Upton had things to say on Twitter following a controversial call during game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night between the Astros and the Washington Nationals.

However, she wasn’t prepared for the blowback she received on the social media platform, tweeting: ‘I LOVE talking about sports and reading all of the dumb misogynist comments. It reminds me that women need to keep fighting for equality. It’s 2019 but feels like the 1950s.’

She’s married to Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander. So naturally Kate Upton had things to say on Twitter following a controversial call during game 6 of the World Series Tuesday

However, the model, 27,  wasn’t prepared for the blowback she received on the social media platform and decried ‘all of the dumb misogynist comments’

The baseball game was delayed amid a disputed interference call in the seventh inning involving the Nats’ Trea Turner and his path to first base.

‘He wasn’t within the base path,’ Upton tweeted, along with an image of the relevant portion of the field snapped at Houston’s Minute Maid Park.

The blonde model, 27, continued: ‘Those who don’t know the rule you HAVE to run inside the 2 lines. Not sure why the review is taking so long…’

Turner was ruled out at first and Washington manager Dave Martinez was tossed out of the game after an apoplectic rant against the officials.

Nats’ Trea Turner and his path to first base was at the heart of the controversial call

Some of the responses Upton got suggested she should ‘stick to modeling’ and that her love for Verlander blinded her to ‘reason.’ Others referenced the Astros hiring of pitcher Roberto Osuna who had been suspended for domestic violence in May 2018 and the firing last week of Astros Assistant GM Brandon Taubman for attacking a group of women reporters

Some of the responses Upton got suggested she should ‘stick to modeling’ and that her love for Verlander blinded her to ‘reason.’

One Twitter user called her out for having a husband who ‘works for this decades most sexist team,’ a reference to the hiring of pitcher Roberto Osuna who had been suspended for domestic violence in May 2018 and the firing last week of Astros Assistant GM Brandon Taubman for attacking a group of women reporters.

Upton and Verlander, 36, tied the knot in Italy on November 4, 2017, less than a week after the Astros won the World Series for the first time in a seven-game showdown with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

A year later, they welcomed their daughter Genevieve.

This election is not all about Brexit – it’s also a choice between State control and freedom – The Sun

HOW tempting to see this as “the Brexit election”, a sort of second referendum in disguise.

The Conservatives pledge to take us out of the European Union, the Lib Dems vow to keep us in and Labour promise to prolong the agony for another year or three.

Brexit is, of course, a central issue. But something even more important is at stake.

Do we want to continue to live with the free-market economy that has given us wealth unimaginable a century ago? Or do we want to be sucked backwards into the failed socialist experiment that impoverished Eastern Europe in the second half of the 20th century and has laid waste to Venezuela?

Labour has yet to produce the radical manifesto Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell promised yesterday but we already know there is going to be a hike in income tax for those earning over £80,000 a year — and probably a swingeing wealth tax, given McDonnell’s past enthusiasm for the idea.

McDonnell, too, has said he would expropriate ten per cent of the shares of every British company and put them in a fund supposedly for the benefit of the workers — although when you read the small print, workers would receive a maximum of £500 in dividends per year, with the rest going straight into the Government’s coffers.

That measly £500 would do little to compensate for the collapse in value of pension funds as Labour nationalised water and electricity companies at below the market value of their shares.

Many of those shares are owned by funds on which you and I rely for our retirement.

SUMS DON'T ADD UP

The Shadow Chancellor promises that under Labour, we will only have to work a four-day, 32-hour week, apparently with no cut in pay. We might as well put Alice In Wonderland in charge of the economy. His sums simply don’t add up.

McDonnell says he will increase the National Living Wage to £10 an hour. But if low-paid workers were stopped from working 32 hours a week rather than the current average of 37, it would mean a substantial cut in pay for millions of people.

That Theresa May was unable to win an outright majority against Jeremy Corbyn and his extreme economic policies in 2017 is as astonishing in retrospect as it was at the time. What was meant to be a coronation nearly turned into a wake. Many Conservatives fear the polls could turn sharply again.

But there is scant sign Boris Johnson will repeat Mrs May’s abysmal campaign. His three months in office have brought a change in the weather. We have a Prime Minister who exudes optimism rather than a sense of defeat.

While May seemed almost embarrassed to be a Conservative and tried to out-do Labour for proposing the most unappealing tax rise — the “dementia tax” — Johnson has made the case for capitalism and conservatism.

The first of those, he rightly points out, pays for the public services we all value so much.

He has promised to rebuild hospitals and reverse the cuts in police numbers that took place on Mrs May’s watch.

He knows the way to improve the lot of people on low incomes is not to boost benefits but to increase earnings through a higher National Living Wage.

But he also recognises middle-income groups have suffered disproportionately from the tax system in recent years and has proposed raising the threshold for the 40 per cent tax rate.

UNDERMINE LIVELIHOODS

While Corbyn and McDonnell would undermine livelihoods by cutting working hours, Johnson’s Tories will encourage us to work and to invest — in our homes, in pensions and savings. Rather than threaten businesses with confiscating shares, he promises better infrastructure, especially broadband.

Boris doesn’t just want to get Brexit done, as Remainer Mrs May did.

He wants to turn it to Britain’s advantage, opening our economy to the world beyond the EU, with new trade deals to bring in investment.

While Mrs May created a hostile environment for migrants, Johnson has indicated a more welcoming attitude towards those who want to come to Britain to work.

As the PM has said, this election is about getting Brexit done.

But more than that, it is a battle between enterprise and overbearing State control, between having the freedom to invest for your future and having your assets confiscated, between the opportunity to work and having your working hours laid down by the Government.

It is a cliche to say we face the most important election in decades. But this time it really is true.

Everything We Know About HBO Max Including Original Programming, Price and Launch Date

WarnerMedia also announced major catalog acquisitions like “Rick & Morty” and “South Park” to join existing juggernauts “Friends,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “The West Wing.”

Finally, after months of speculation, AT&T joined forces with HBO and WarnerMedia to try and start their own hype machine for their upcoming HBO Max streaming service, offering details on upcoming projects, pricing and a tentative launch date.

The timing appears likely to try and deflate enthusiasm a bit for Disney’s upcoming Disney+ streaming service, launching next month. Apple TV+ is also lauching next month (before Disney+), but it doesn’t seem to have the buzz or enthusiasm behind it.

Not at all ironically (we’re sure), Disney paid to have Disney+ at the top of the Twitter trending topics throughout the day as HBO Max revealed itself to the world.

First of all, it looks like Warner Media has no interesting in competing with Disney+ on pricing, as they’ve gone ahead and set their price point at $14.99/month, with an expected launch date of May 2020, giving them plenty of time to finalize streaming deals and get some original content brewing.

While there have been projects announced already, there were a few surprises throughout the presentation, including three new DC Comics projects and the promise that all Superman and Batman films, including Joaquin Phoenix’s "Joker," will be available upon launch.

As for those new televisions series, WarnerMedia is looking to mirror traditional television viewing habits and role outs its programming one episode at a time. They also announced that current HBO Now subscribers will gain access to HBO Max for no additional costs.

New DC Comics Series

"Arrowverse" superstar Greg Berlanti is bringing two new projects to the streamer, including another shot at making "Green Lantern" work as a thing after the poorly-received film starring Ryan Reynolds. Did we say poorly received? We mean atrociously received, lest we undersell how universally hated this movie was.

With decades of "GL"-related material published, including a years-long saga that introduced a full color spectrum by Geoff Johns, there’s certainly plenty of material to justify an expanded cast and an ongoing superhero series about a test pilot recruited by sheer luck into becoming a space cop. It’s a lot more complicated, but that’s the heart of it. And with TV Guide noting Berlanti’s promise it will be the "biggest DC show ever made, hopefully they’ll deliver on its potential.

On the other end of the spectrum, Berlanti is also tied to "Strange Adventures," an anthology series that promises to explore characters from across the DC Universe, including (we’d assume) Adam Strange, a man who finds himself tied to two different worlds when a strange alien beam transports him across the galaxy.

Finally, Elizabeth Banks is executive producing "DC Super Hero High," a half-hour comedy series about a group of gifted students just trying to get by at an exclusive boarding school. Oh, and they may or may not grow up to become some of DC’s most iconic heroes … by which we mean they will.

Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbara Revivals

Aside from extensive catalogs of some of the most revered cartoon characters in history, HBO Max is also looking to revive its classic Looney Tunes characters with a new slate of 80 shorts (11-minutes each), hearkening back to their early days in theaters when they debuted their newest stories in front of various motion pictures.

The classic Hanna-Barbera characters are getting a slightly different treatment. Instead of various shorts chronicling their different adventures, this library of disparate characters is combining into one show. "Jellystone" is now the name of a town where they all live and interact, similar to "The Looney Tunes Show" format of the early 2010s.

We’re not as sure what’s going on with "Tooned Out," executive produced by Robert Zemeckis, but we suspect some of these characters might appears as it’s described as a live-action/animated hybrid about a boy who starts to see classic cartoon characters to help him get through life.

Other Revivals and Relocations

Some classic properties are getting the reboot or sequel or even prequel treatment on HBO Max, while some existing shows will simply be shifting to the new streamer for their upcoming seasons.

  • Adventure Time returns for four one-hour "Distant Lands" specials after wrapping its intricate and surprisingly emotional story on Cartoon Network.
  • "The Boondocks" is back with fresh new episodes for the foul-mouthed Hey Freeman and his eccentric family. Even better, creator Aaron McGruder is back for this two-season commitment (24 episodes in total).
  • "Gen:Lock", a star-studded dystopic animated series from Rooster Teeth starring the voice talents of Michael B. Jordan, Maisie Williams, David Tennant, Dakota Fanning and more shifts to HBO Max with its second season.
  • "Grease" is back with "Rydell High," a new series set in the world of the film, though presumably following all new characters. Though it is set in the 1950s, so perhaps some familiar T-Birds or Pink Ladies will at least get name-dropped.
  • Gremlins offers its first look at what happened before the classic 1980s horror film with a new animated series that’s probably going to be a lot less scary than the first film (and maybe less campy than the second).
  • "Practical Magic" steps back in time with prequel series "Rules of Magic," about three trouble siblings struggling to deal with life in New York in the 1960s as well as their "abnormalities."
  • "Search Party", the dark comedy series starring Alia Shawkat, shifts from TBS to HBO Max for its third season.
  • Sesame Street brings more than just its own continuing stories after five decades on the air, but it’s expanding with a new talk show ("The Not Too Late Show with Elmo") and a new animated series featuring classic characters in "robot animation style," whatever that means ("Mecha Builders").

Aside from known properties, HBO Max will also be relying on known directors, producers and actors to try and lure people into subscribing to their service. Below are some of the big names coming to HBO Max, and the projects they’re tied to:

  • Kaley Cuoco stars in "The Flight Attendant," which tells the story of what happens when her titular flight attendant wakes up next to a dead body on a plane.

  • Lena Dunham produces "Generation," about a group of high school students whose exploration of sexuality challenges their conservative community.
  • Ansel Elgort tries to shut down police corruption in "Tokyo Vice," based on the memoir of the same name.
  • Danai Gurira created "Americanah," starring Lupita Nyong’o as a young Nigerian woman who emigrates to the United States to attend college, while telling the story of her life back home as well.
  • Mindy Kaling brings "College Girls," a 13-episode half-hours series about three college freshmen roommates trying to figure … well, everything out.
  • Anna Kendrick comes to television for the anthology series "Love Life," which will be an anthology series of sorts about her struggles in love.
  • Nicole Kidman executive produces "Crime Farm," a drama about a couple (both forensic homicide experts) who find their romance inexplicably tied to their investigations into the depths of human darkness.
  • Melissa McCarthy stars in "Superintelligence," a series about a woman who discovers the world’s first superintelligence has decided to plot its world takeover by observing her, of all people.

  • Ridley Scott sees his "Raised by Wolves" project shift from TNT to HBO Max. This series tells the story of two androids tasked with raising a human on a new planet.
  • Meryl Streep stars in "Let Them All Talk," Steven Soderberg’s film about a celebrated author who steps away for a healing journey with old friends.
  • Reese Witherspoon brings her Hello Sunshine brand to HBO Max for two as-yet-unrevealed film projects.

Other Big Properties

  • "Anna K" is Leo Tolstoy’s "Anna Karenina" modernized and told through a multicultural lens.
  • "Circe" is an eight-part adaptation of Madeline Miller’s novel about the iconic goddess from Homer’s "The Odyssey" by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
  • "Dune: The Sisterhood" takes another stab at adapting Frank Herbert’s science fiction novel series with this companion to Denis Villeneuve’s big-screen film (much like "The Dark Tower" was supposed to do). This series focuses on the political machinations of the women of The Imperium as they prepare to deal with the central desert planet Arrakis.
  • "Starstruck" features comedian Rose Matafeo trying to figure out life in London, and after having just slept with a massive movie star.
  • "Station Eleven" is based on the award-winning, post-apocalyptic novel of the same name about the aftermath of a swine flu epidemic and translated to the small screen by "Atlanta" director Hiro Murai.
  • Studio Ghibli comes to an America streaming service in its entirety for the first time ever, including such treasures as "Spirited Away," "Howl’s Moving Castle" and "Ponyo."
  • "UNpregnant" is a timely project, based on the novel of the same name, about a teen who discovers she’s pregnant and sets off on a 900-mile road trip to find a clinic that will allow her to get an abortion without notifying her parents.

What About Older CW Shows?

When it was first announced, it was made clear that HBO Max would be the streaming home for new Warner Bros. dramas produced for the network, including "Batwoman" and the forthcoming "Riverdale" spinoff "Katy Keene." But what about her parent series, or the rest of the "Arrowverse" family of shows?

For now, they remain tied to existing streaming deals, which pretty much means Netflix. The CW scored a lucrative deal with the streaming giant years ago to give it exclusive access to its comic book series, among other popular younger-skewing programming, and those deals remain in affect for all series launched prior to this season for the life of those shows, and probably a few years beyond.

In other words, like it’s going to take Disney+ a little bit of time to pull all of its properties under one umbrella at Disney+, it looks like Warner Bros. is facing a similar hurdle. Only in their case, they don’t seem keen to just cancel all of their shows to expedite the process … or do they?

"Arrow" is already coming to an end with spinoff "Green Arrow and the Canaries" sure to wind up on HBO Max. Could "Superman & Lois" signal an end for "Supergirl"? Could the upcoming "Crisis on Infinite Earths" serve as a sort of housecleaning, allowing Warner to clean out their old shows and replace them with shiny news ones that don’t have existing streaming deals?

Marquee TV Classics

Any new streaming service needs a healthy backstock of programming to keep people tuned in, just in case they don’t like the new stuff. Warner Bros. has a massive library of properties coming — they’re saying 10,000 hours of programming — including the already-announced lucrative deals signed to secure "Friends" and "The Big Bang Theory." On Tuesday, they added the full libraries of both "South Park" and "Rick & Morty."

Check out some of their heaviest hitters below:

  • "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown"
  • "Aqua Teen Hunger Force"
  • "The Bachelor"
  • "The Big Bang Theory"
  • "The Closer"
  • "Doctor Who"
  • "The Fresh Prince"
  • "Friends"
  • "Luther"
  • "Major Crimes"
  • "The O.C."
  • "Pretty Little Liars"
  • "Rizzolli & Isles"
  • "Robot Chicken"
  • "South Park"
  • "This Is Life with Lisa Ling"
  • "Top Gear"
  • "United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell"
  • "The West Wing"

Meghan King says she's 'broken' as she speaks out about her split

Meghan King says she’s ‘broken’ as she speaks out about her split from husband Jim Edmonds in blog post… and claims he went ‘partying and drinking with younger women’ including ‘several of our babysitters’ and his daughter

  • Meghan broke her silence on Tuesday afternoon on her blog
  • Meghan accused her husband of ‘having an affair’ with the nanny
  • He was previously caught sexting another woman during Meghan’s pregnancy
  • Edmonds has strongly denied he has been sleeping with his 22-year-old nanny
  • The former baseball player filed paperwork to end the marriage on Friday
  • Now the nanny, Carly Wilson, tweeted ‘be kind’ as she denied any affair
  • Edmonds’ daughter Hayley said ‘I’ve been waiting for it. For probably… three years?’

The drama between Real Housewives of Orange County’s Meghan King and her estranged ex Jim Edmonds has turned nasty, with his daughter calling her a ‘selfish’ stepmom.

And Meghan King has taken to her blog to speak on the cheating accusations as well as more accusations about Jim.

The reality star, 35, said she is ‘broken for my family. I am buried in despair. I cry at the despair’ as well as claiming that her husband went ‘drinking and partying’ with ‘several’ of the babysitters and his daughter Hayley, 22, was ‘present.’

Candid: Meghan King has taken to her blog to speak on the cheating accusations as well as more accusations about Jim

Jim, 49, was previously caught having a sexting affair with a woman before during and after Meghan’s pregnancy with their twins Hayes and Hart.

In the lengthy blog post she shared, which she titled, ‘Broken,’ she said that four months after she found out about his affair, sje found out their son Hart had a life-long brain injury.

The mother of three revealed that her family rallied behind them and reached out to Jim to say they supported their marriage and that they loved him and hope he would put effort to fix it.

Adding: ‘His family and closest friends did not reach out to me – the one who was betrayed, the one who had to read on the internet that her husband paid his virtual mistress hush money in an attempt to bury the truth.’

Meghan claimed that they blamed her for his sexting, pointing at her blog or her social media following, noting that no one called or texted her about their brain injured son.

She wrote in her blog that it was one of her hardest times in her life and she was being ‘blamed’ by his family for it: ‘It was heartbreaking to realize that I did not have the love or support of Jim’s family – instead they were actively ignoring me or trying to further sabotage our marriage. Family dynamics are complicated – ours more so than most – but I still expected more from them. That hurt.’

Meghan wrote that ‘anyone who has lived through infidelity knows how difficult it is to overcome and regain a strong marriage. It requires both people to be all in. It requires the betrayer to put in the time and effort to repair the trust that was broken.’

Thoughts: The reality star, 35, said she is ‘broken for my family. I am buried in despair. I cry at the despair’ as well as claiming that her husband went ‘drinking and partying’ with ‘several’ of the babysitters and his daughter Hayley, 22, was ‘present’

Adding: ‘In the wake of the sexting scandal, my husband was drinking and partying with much younger women, including several of our babysitters, and I found this gallivanting inappropriate, immature, and downright odd.’

She continued: ‘While I initially wrote it off because during several of these outing, his 22-year-old daughter was present, given his previous indiscretions, I was uncomfortable.’

Meghan added: ‘Even more so when he started lying about where he was going or who he was going with – and deleting entire text conversations on his phone with several of these young women.’

The mother of three said that after his sexting affair he agreed with their therapist to never delete messages or conversations and also allow his location to be available on his phone.

Throwback: Meghan added: ‘Even more so when he started lying about where he was going or who he was going with – and deleting entire text conversations on his phone with several of these young women’

Meghan revealed that she found out he went to a hockey game with one of their babysitters, he ‘lied about’ it and he refused to include her on text messages.

She did however say that she doesn’t know if he slept with any of their babysitters or if they ‘were just being exceedingly inappropriate by hanging out social without either of them telling me (and Jim expressly lying to me about it.’

The star thinks he did not sleep with them but she says she doesn’t get ‘why he’d lie’ and why the babysitter would too.

She said that she loves her husband and is ‘devastated that our marriage is being broken up in the ugliest and messiest way. I am sad that members of Jim’s family are reveling in our demise. And I am saddest for the children.’

The star continued: ‘My step kids, Landon and Sutton, have lost a stepmother whom they love and will have to endure another divorce and broken home in their short lifetime. And my three babies who will likely never remember their parents being married.’

Meghan said that she promises to ‘facilitate healthy, consistent, and ongoing relationships with their father and with his family despite the hurt I feel from them because my children should not reap the karma of my personal situations.’

Ending the post with a quote: ‘When you’re in a dark place, you sometimes tend to think you’ve been buried. Perhaps you’ve been planted. Bloom.’

On her mind: Ending the post with a quote: ‘When you’re in a dark place, you sometimes tend to think you’ve been buried. Perhaps you’ve been planted. Bloom’

Meanwhile, Carly Wilson, who is just 22 and one of four nannies employed by the couple to care for their three young children, has strongly denied any accusation of infidelity, and asked the reality star to ‘be kind’.

Via Instagram she wrote: ‘In the past week, allegations have been made about me which are not based in fact. I have not and never would participate in any action involving infidelity.

‘I consider this a private matter in someone else’s marriage and will not comment on it further.’ Tagging her post ‘be kind’, she finished with ‘I wish the entire family well.’

Meghan’s nanny Carly Wilson begged star ‘be kind’ in an Instagram post on Monday night

Accused: Carly holding Meghan’s child from the RHOC star’s blog; she denied any wrongdoing

Part of the family: Meghan posted this image when Carly turned 21, showing the nanny with the reality star’s daughter Aspen

Jim Edmonds also denied the accusations and came to his nanny’s defense in some comments on her social media post.

Instagram account Comments by Bravo, first noticed that Jim posted a message in defense of Carly after another user accused her of deleting pictures of Jim and her boyfriend.

The user penned: ‘An innocent person would not delete photos with Jim and then delete her bf pics. If you are innocent you leave it all up because supposedly nothing happened.’

Jim himself actually replied to the shade: ‘She is scared to death and 22 years old. What would you do?’

The digital sparring match continued when another user answered Jim’s seemingly rhetorical question.

In defense: Jim Edmonds denied the accusations and came to his nanny’s defense in some comments on her social media post that were spotted by Comments by Bravo

Jim himself replied to haters: ‘She is scared to death and 22 years old. What would you do?’

‘@jimedmonds5 delete all the comments and make my account private. Oh and I would NOT go alone to events with my married boss.’

Jim responded again directly to the criticism: ‘I didn’t take her to the event by myself. Get your facts straight. I was with my best friend and his child.’

He continued: ‘I was trying to do something nice for the girl who just had her boyfriend dumped her. She has [been] like a daughter to me and all of this bulls**t will not change that.’

In another exchange a hater called out the former MLB player for coming to Carly’s defense after he said the rumors were ‘not true.’

Carly has been a staple in the Edmonds household since Jim and Meghan’s daughter Aspen was born two years ago, and even had a major shoutout on Meghan’s lifestyle blog with a post titled: ‘It Takes A Village.’

Carly’s words come as Meghan’s stepdaughter, Hayley Edmonds, spoke out to insist she’s been ‘waiting’ for her baseball star dad Jim Edmonds to divorce her reality star stepmom.

Hayley, 22, told Us Weekly: ‘I’ve been waiting for it. For probably… three years? I think it’s impossible to be happy with someone so… I don’t know if I would say narcissistic but, she, like, creates her own problems and loves conflict and things like that. The selfishness is miserable for anyone to be around.

‘My whole family has grown closer because we have all had to stay silent in hopes to protect my dad and no one can do it anymore.’

Speaking out: Carly’s words come as Meghan’s stepdaughter, Hayley Edmonds, spoke out to insist she’s been ‘waiting’ for her baseball star dad Jim Edmonds, 49, to divorce her stepmom

Happy families? Hayley, left, with her dad and stepmom, sister Lauren and brother-in-law, in a throwback picture from Meghan’s Instagram

Hayley moved in with Meghan, 35, and father-of-seven Jim as a teen, as her own mother battled cancer. She was just 17 when her mother, LeAnn Edmonds Horton, sadly died, and her difficult relationship with her stepmom was chronicled on RHOC.

She said of this period: ‘I dropped out of high school to take care of my sick mother and [Meghan] came in and completely manipulated me to get on the show and told me I was making it harder on my mom to be there and I was giving her anxiety and I needed to live with Meghan and give my mom less stress.’

Harsh words: Hayley, left, is seen on her dad and Meghan’s wedding day in 2014 with siblings Landon, Sutton and Lauren

Like his daughter, Jim is also speaking out. The 49-year-old former baseball pro took to social media on Monday morning to deny all claims of an extramarital affair with their help.

Jim accused Meghan of being ‘disgusting and irresponsible’ and said while ‘we all make mistakes, this is not one of those times.’

His post began: ‘** BREAKING NEWS ** It’s one thing to be accused of something. It’s another thing to be so negligent and so careless, and ruin the lives of innocent young people.

‘I did not sleep with our nanny. She’s not just a nanny, she is someone that we brought into our house and promised to protect and look after while she was in our home. We have been treating and raising this young girl like she is our own child! For someone to accuse me of sleeping with her is not only wrong, it’s disgusting and irresponsible.’

He continued: ‘Just because I am an athlete and I was portrayed as a bad person on Bravo TV. Doesn’t mean I don’t have a clue what life is all about. We made a promise to that young girls mom, that We would take care of her and make sure that she was safe while she was in our hands.’

The former athlete went on to say he would not be standing for the lies and is ‘fighting back’ to ensure the ‘truth’ is out there.

Straight from JE: Jim’s note was lengthy as he denied any intimacy with the 22-year-old

‘I will not sit here and take this bulls**t without fighting back. Just because you’re extremely whitty and intelligent, and know how to play the Instagram game. Doesn’t give you the right to use that platform to wrongfully accuse. Not only is it irresponsible. It is dangerous and puts my family in harms way. We all make mistakes. This is not one of those times.’

He ended the caption with: ‘My heart is broken for everyone involved. if you get anything out of this post. Get the truth.’

Jim filed for divorce from the former Real Housewives of Orange County vet on Friday, just a day after the couple’s five-year wedding anniversary.

Just last week Meghan revealed the pair were working on their relationship and attending couple’s therapy, as she sat down with Bravo’s Daily Dish.

She insisted she wanted to stay together for the sake of their young children.

Speaking on Wednesday, she said the pair would be heading to a joint therapy session straight after the interview.

She explained: ‘I think after such a breach of trust, it’s so hard to rebuild from there, especially [with] so many distractions, like our son’s health problems and two other little babies, as well. And so to focus on the two of us as a couple, is really hard.’

Meghan said she owed it to her children to give their father a chance at redemption after his indiscretion.

‘I’m hurt right now and our life is massively affected, but if we were to split just because of his indiscretion then there’s multiple other people who are affected, as well.’

Just four months ago Jim, who played in the outfield for the Los Angeles Angels and St. Louis Cardinals, was exposed as sending explicit messages to baseball groupie Jennifer Villegas, while Meghan was pregnant with their twins.

He even sent a video showing him pleasuring himself the same day Meghan was in hospital preparing to give birth to twins Hart and Hayes.

He maintains the relationship was never physical.

Meghan and Jim wed in October 2014 and share twin sons Hayes and Hart, who are 16-months-old as well as daughter Aspen, two.

Jim is the father of four other children from previous relationships: He shares daughters Lauren and Hayley, 22, with first wife, LeAnn Horton, son Landon, 13, and daughter Sutton, 10, with second wife Allison Jayne Raski.

Real Housewives Of Orange County star LeAnn Horton passed away of colon cancer in 2015 aged just 45.

The cheating revelations came as Meghan and Jim dealt with their son Hart’s health struggles.

Meghan has been candidly sharing her son’s progress in his therapy after doctors diagnosed him with brain damage, known clinically as periventricular leukomalacia.

Close: Meghan has previously gushed over Nanny Carly on her blog for her help with her kids

Dealing with Hart’s treatment has kept Meghan away from home as she’s recently been seeking intensive treatment for the toddler in New Orleans, while her other two children remained at home in Missouri.

Additionally Meghan has been taking some time back in Los Angeles. The family moved out of California following the end of her time of RHOC.

Earlier this month the reality star gave followers a tour of the family’s sprawling St. Louis mansion, which is currently in the midst of being remodeled.

The couple have been working on the home together for some time, and she pointed out Jim’s office and walk-in closet in the video. The huge home also included a bowling alley and basketball court, and at the time of filming was still awaiting some final touches.

Meghan recently returned to the Bravo universe with an appearance on Real Housewives Of Orange County earlier this month.

Louis Tomlinson Talks About His Rift With Zayn Malik: ‘I’m Still Pretty Mad About The Whole Thing’

Louis Tomlinson is opening about his rift with Zayn Malik.

While promoting his new single, “We Made It”, and his upcoming album and tour with Dan Wootton on his podcast, the 27-year-old musician got candid about still being upset about Zayn Malik being a no-show to his performance on The X Factor right after losing his mother.

“I had a couple of calls with him after I lost my mum,” Louis explained. “All the boys had agreed to come to that performance and he didn’t show so that really bugged me. It was just seeing everyone there – Harry, Niall and Liam – that was what I needed that night, that support.”

Louis added that one day he might be okay with Zayn again, but just not today.

“I just don’t think I am mature enough, even in my own head, to give that a real answer,” he added about forgiving Zayn. “At the moment, I am still pretty mad about the whole thing. I don’t think [Zayn] handled it very well. But never say never. Who knows? He chatted a lot of s**t in the early days. I thought One Direction [was] pretty good.”

Shady things fans ignore about Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher lies pretty low. The former star of That ’70s Show has led a relatively quiet life following the 2015 conclusion of Two and a Half Men, on which he replaced the super shady Charlie Sheen. And he’s since embraced family life with wife and former co-star Mila Kunis and their two kids: daughter Wyatt and son Dimitri. Apart from starring on the Netflix series The Ranch from 2016 to 2019, Kutcher is also slated to appear on the big screen in The Long Home (2019), though its release date isn’t clear at the time of this writing. In addition to his acting endeavors, Kutcher’s career has been largely focused on tech industries (he was one of the first investors in Uber, for example) and humanitarian efforts.

That said, Kutcher annoyed a whole lot of stars during his tenure on Punk’d, but the MTV classic isn’t the only time he’s ruffled feathers. In fact, it’s safe to bet that he wishes the following stories were all an elaborate ruse, too — because this actor’s issues may go a lot deeper than his penchant for trucker hats. Let’s dig into the shady things fans ignore about Ashton Kutcher.

Demi Moore accused Ashton Kutcher of cheating during their marriage

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher were married from 2005 until they separated six years later (finalizing their divorce in 2013). Their marriage was a rocky one, at least according to Moore. In the actress’ October 2019 memoir, Inside Out, Moore alleged that she and Kutcher engaged in threesomes, which she claimed may have triggered his reported infidelity. “Because we had brought a third party into our relationship,” Moore wrote (via Radar Online), “Ashton said, that blurred the lines and, to some extent, justified what he’d done.”

Moore also accused Kutcher of cheating more than once: First with a woman named Brittney Jones that Kutcher reportedly met while out with Moore’s daughter, Rumer Willis, in 2010, and then with another woman named Sara Leal, whom he met at That ’70s Show co-star Danny Masterson’s bachelor party the following year. Adding insult to injury? Kutcher’s alleged affair with Leal supposedly went down during his and Moore’s sixth anniversary weekend.

For her part, Leal claimed that Kutcher told her he and Moore had separated before they hooked up — though actor Scott Eastwood later alleged that he had been dating Leal at the time of the scandal. Meanwhile, Kutcher previously denied the 2010 cheating allegation, but has remained mum on Moore’s 2019 claims.

Kutcher's ex-wife accused him of shaming her battle with addiction

The marital discord between Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore may have extended beyond alleged infidelity. Moore revealed in Inside Out: A Memoir that she suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage early on in her relationship with The Butterfly Effect (2004) star. Explaining that this sent her spiraling into drug and alcohol abuse after being sober for two decades, Moore claimed that Kutcher wasn’t sympathetic to her struggles with addiction and had actually shamed her over it.

In an excerpt published by Radar Online, Moore alleged that Kutcher once told her, “I don’t know if alcoholism is a real thing — I think it’s all about moderation.” In an effort to be fun and to please Kutcher, she “cast about for justifications for his argument” and began to drink again. Unfortunately, this didn’t end well, as Moore’s addiction reared its head once more … at which point she claimed Kutcher failed to “offer [her] any reinforcement or compassion.”

“Ashton had encouraged me to go in this direction,” Moore wrote of her alcoholism (via People). “When I went too far, though, he let me know how he felt by showing a picture he’d taken of me resting my head on the toilet the night before. It seemed like a good-natured joke at the time. But it was really just shaming.” Thankfully, Moore also revealed that she’s now sober.

He had an odd reaction to his divorce from Demi Moore

Although Demi Moore’s telling of her marriage with Ashton Kutcher made it seem like she took the brunt of the breakup pain, the actor took it hard, too — but his response to the split was little short of bizarre. During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast in 2018, Kutcher revealed that he fasted for a week alone during a retreat to the Big Sky mountains of Montana after he and Moore finalized their divorce.

“I took all my computers away, my phone, my everything,” he said (via People). “I was there by myself so there was no talking, and I just had a notepad and a pen and water and tea for a week.” Kutcher went on to explain that he began to hallucinate shortly into his jaunt. However, he also occupied himself in another way. “I wrote down every single relationship that I had where I felt like there was some grudge or [something] and then I wrote letters to every single person and sent the letters on day [seven],” Kutcher continued. “I typed them all out and sent them.”

Kutcher may have found this exercise to be spiritual and healing, but there was no word on how his exes felt about the letters.

Was Ashton Kutcher unkind to ex-girlfriend January Jones?

Ashton Kutcher may have also not been too nice to ex-girlfriend January Jones … at least, according to Demi Moore. In her Inside Out memoir, Moore claimed that Kutcher was so prone to jealousy during his 1998 to 2001 romance with the Mad Men actress that he allegedly accused Jones of having an affair with Moore’s ex-husband, Bruce Willis, on the set of 2001’s Bandits (via Radar Online). Moore went on to recall asking Jones about the matter at an event, to which Jones reportedly replied with a laugh, “Are you serious? I told him a hundred times, ‘I don’t want to f**k that old man!'”

But this wasn’t the only rumor about Kutcher supposedly being cruel to Jones. It’s been widely speculated that he was the subject of a story she told GQ in 2009 about an unnamed ex who wasn’t supportive of her acting career. “He was like, I don’t think you’re going to be good at this. So — f**k you! He only has nice things to say now — if anything, I should thank him,” Jones said at the time. “Because the minute you tell me I can’t do something, that’s when I’m most motivated.” She later explained during a 2016 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, “The person who wrote the interview did the math and thought it might be [Kutcher]; so I never really said who it was.”

Sharon Osbourne and Trent Reznor aren't fans

We can’t only blame Punk’d for this one, but it’s pretty safe to say that Ashton Kutcher might not have the best reputation with certain other celebrities. Sharon Osbourne, for example, once admitted on Larry King Now that she “didn’t get on” with the actor when he visited The Talk. “[He had a] bad attitude for me, because I got his name wrong. So he was p***ed,” Osbourne said. “And he [came on] with an attitude and he goes, ‘And what are you — what have you done in this industry?'” She recalled telling the “kid” that he didn’t know who he was dealing with.

She wasn’t the only famous face to have a bad impression of Kutcher. Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor once griped to Vulture that his own work with Apple Music and Beats may not be taken seriously because of Kutcher’s involvement with tech investing. “That kind of situation, which mine isn’t, would be insulting to the people that actually are doing the important jobs,” Reznor said. “And I don’t want to hear about ‘Ashton Kutcher’s a f**king tech genius.’ I don’t give a s**t about that. He seems like an a**hole.”

Kutcher says he wants connection, but might just want your data

Speaking of Ashton Kutcher’s tech involvement … it could be said that the actor’s used his celebrity (and the occasional scandal) to the advantage of the startups in which he’s invested.

In January 2019, Kutcher tweeted out his cell phone number in an attempt to “[change his] social media strategy.” In a since-deleted tweet, he wrote (via The Hollywood Reporter), “I miss having a real connection w/ real people. My Community. From now on you can just text me. I won’t be able to respond to everyone but at least we can be real w/ each other & I can share the unedited latest & greatest in my world. Yes this is my #.” However, when fans texted the number, they reportedly received automated responses, including a link to sign up with the company Community and receive marketing messages. According to Tech Crunch, Kutcher did the same marketing stunt six months later.

In lieu of publicly responding to the controversy surrounding ex-wife Demi Moore’s claims about him in Inside Out: The Memoir that September, Kutcher instead appeared to use the scandalous claims to promote the venture yet again. “For truth, text me,” he tweeted alongside his phone number for a third time. But it once again led to Community signup links sent out in response, as well as automated messages about politics. Color those of us who wanted the dirt a bit disappointed.

Ashton Kutcher's tone deaf remarks about women in the workplace

Ashton Kutcher might seem too tech-forward to bother with LinkedIn, but he did — and it didn’t end well for him. In 2017, the actor announced that he’d be hosting a “live open [dialogue] about gender equality in the [workplace].” Some of the questions he posed on the professional platform, however, were less than progressive, including: “What are the [rules] for dating in the [workplace]? Flirting?” and “What are the clear red lines?” Also listed was “What advice should we be giving to female entrepreneurs?”

Of course, Kutcher got a lot of flak for his remarks. Paradigm CEO Joelle Emerson tweeted, “Yikes. These are definitely *not* the right questions. Most rely on flawed assumptions and perpetuate problematic myths.” Another person wrote, “This doesn’t help anyone, least of all the women it’s intended to help. It just creates a completely skewed paradigm w/ the same issues.” Yet another Twitter user cracked, “Maybe we Female Entrepreneurs are being PUNK’D.”

Kutcher technically didn’t apologize for his remarks, but he did address the backlash in a series of tweets. “Thank you everyone for the feedback on the questions I posted on LinkedIn. Good and bad. Already a learning experience,” he wrote, adding, “I’ve already offended some folks by asking the wrong questions. I’m certain given the sensitivity of the topic I will say other things wrong … Hope we can find space to be wrong in the pursuit of getting it right.”

What Taylor Swift Says About Selena Gomez's New Justin Bieber Song

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been close friends for years. The pair has supported each other through countless highs and lows, romantic and otherwise.

Who could forget Swift’s infamous reaction to Gomez’s iconic performance of “The Heart Wants What It Wants” at the 2014 AMAs? Or Selena’s public fangirling and the friends’ lovefest over Taylor Swift’s single “Lover?”

Most recently, Swift spoke up in support of Gomez’s bombshell new single “Lose Me to Love You.” The song is believed to be a final goodbye to Justin Bieber after Gomez’s long-term rocky relationship with the singer.

Gomez’s new single is believed to serve as a last goodbye to Jelena

Jelena breathed its (probably) last breath in early 2018, when Bieber and Gomez finally broke it off in March after years of an on-and-off relationship.

Hailey Baldwin, who had also dated Bieber several times previously, began dating the famous crooner exclusively shortly thereafter. The couple was engaged over the summer and has since had two weddings: a courthouse ceremony in September 2018 and a formal wedding in South Carolina last month.

Gomez has been fairly open with the press about the heartbreak her A-list relationship has caused her. Fans believe her new single and accompanying black-and-white iPhone-shot music video, “Lose You To Love Me,” chronicle the end of Jelena and Gomez’s decision to move on.

On Oct. 23, shortly after midnight, Gomez released the video, writing on Twitter, “Thank you all for standing by my side through the highs and lows. I couldn’t do it without you all and I can’t wait to start my next adventure with you. Lose You To Love Me is out now.”

‘Lose You to Love Me’ lyrics are heartbreaking and poignant

On Vevo, Gomez wrote of her new single, “This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself.”

“Lose You to Love Me” paints a picture of broken promises and Gomez’s frustration over what her ex swore he’d give her. “You promised the world and I fell for it/I put you first and you adored it/Set fires to my forest/And you let it burn,” the song begins.

Later, Gomez appears to reference Baldwin’s and Bieber’s relationship directly when she sings, “I gave my all and they all know it/You turned me down and now it’s showing/In two months, you replaced us/Like it was easy.”

The central message of the song? Self-love. Gomez sings that she had to “lose” her ex in order to find, and love, herself.

Swift voiced her support for her bestie in an Instagram post

Swift has never been shy about voicing her support for Gomez’s work. In fact, she was one of the first to hear Gomez’s 2014 single about Bieber, “The Heart Wants What it Wants.” Gomez said her close friend listened to it “three times” immediately.

Apparently, Swift was in the early listening party for this song, too. Shortly after Gomez shared her new single, Swift took to her Instagram stories to speak out about how much she adored it.

“This song is a perfect expression of healing & my absolute favorite song she’s put out yet. A triumph,” Swift wrote in the post.

She added, “I love you so much @selenagomez.”

Stacy Keibler Opens Up About Leaving Hollywood to 'Focus on Family'

A new normal! Stacy Keibler left her life in Hollywood when she became a mom because her “priorities completely shifted.”

“I just realized I wanted to take a step back and just focus on family,” the former professional wrestler, 40, recently told Us Weekly exclusively while promoting her and husband Jared Pobre’s non-toxic skincare brand for men, Caldera + Lab. “I was 100 percent [into] parenthood. …  I really have taken a step back from the spotlight to focus on my family. It’s No. 1.”

The Dancing With the Stars alum, who shares Ava, 5, and Bodhi, 15 months, with Pobre, 44, told Us that they didn’t just move to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, “after respectfully building successful careers in Los Angeles” so they could start a family. They wanted to “seek out improved health and a deeper connection to nature.”

Recently, the Maryland native got a taste of her former profession when she “went back to induct someone into the WWE Hall of Fame.” She told Us, “It was the first time in 13 years, and it was an incredible feeling just to walk out in front of that live audience again. I loved being backstage with all my WWE family and it felt like I had never left. I am just so grateful for the fans. It was really great to have Jared there because he didn’t experience any of that part of my life.”

She and the Future Ads CEO were inspired to create Caldera + Lab’s The Good serum by the “pollution of Los Angeles and the dry climate of the Teton Mountain Range,” the former actress told Us. “Living in high altitude, we really noticed that our skin began to suffer as a result of that. Of course, I had access to a variety of quality, organic, non-toxic women’s skincare products, but we couldn’t find a clean, high-quality formulation for Jared, and that’s really how the idea came to us. Then it was two and a half years for research and development. We knew that we wanted to make the best, cleanest [products] and something that performed for men. Men should have the same choices that women have.”

You Already Have About A Million Kids' Halloween Costumes In Your House

Halloween literally freaks me out. Every. Single. Year. My kids have great expectations surrounding the day (not a holiday in my book, BTW) which — as a mom who kind of despises the occasion — can be daunting. Over the years, my kids have scoured costume catalogs teeming with astronomically priced accessories, and we’ve even succumbed to a few trends. Once, I splurged on an Elsa wig which, after the first ten steps of the Halloween parade at school, my daughter deemed hot and itchy before promptly tossing it. (It’s currently up for grabs if anyone fancies it in anticipation of Frozen 2 being released next month.) Rather than lose my head over the predictable challenge of culling costumes each fall, I have a new go-to mantra when preparing for the ghastly arrival of Halloween: Use what you’ve got, and don’t sweat the rest.

This approach to DIY Halloween costumes is a win for anyone keen on avoiding the tricks leading up to October 31 in favor of reaping the treats. As to the cardinal rule? Employ fresh eyes to look at what you’ve already got lying around.

Embrace dual personalities

Go ahead and scour the dress-up trunk! A pair of surgical scrubs — coupled with a plastic stethoscope and a handmade name tag — and voila! You’ve got a tiny doctor or nurse on your hands. Got a superhero cape and/or mask floating around? Help your child imagine a new character and emblazon the cape with the corresponding letter or symbol using paper-cutouts or duct tape. (TIP: using your child’s first name is a great place to start! Think Super Sam or Sensational Sarah.) You might even score a bit of connection thinking up silly adjectives to describe each other (and yes, I did dress up as Super Mom one year).

Think uniformity

A post shared by MARAIS SKY® [ma-ray sky] (@maraisskyofficial) on

We’ve gotten tons of mileage out of old ballet clothing! Either current, or hand-me-down, activity-specific clothing can be combined in myriad ways for dressing up. One year, I had a five-year-old who wanted to be theTooth Fairy (you do know she dresses in old ballet costumes for work, right?) My daughter picked a color scheme — pink, in this case — and we layered tights, leotard, tutu, cardigan sweater, and crown. As to the piece de resistance? An old wand, with a clip-art tooth printed, laminated and stuck to the end with Scotch tape. Same goes for sports uniforms: my 13-year-old donned a favorite hockey jersey (Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres) and pilfered my 1980s era eyeshadow to craft a bruiser of a black eye (that was surprisingly realistic). Recycle old sports uniforms — think soccer, baseball, basketball, you name it — and quickly personalize your child’s jersey with a favorite player’s name and/or number using fabric/electrical/duct tape.

Get comfortable

Who doesn’t love pajamas? Especially if you’ve got a kiddo with sensory integration issues, costumes can be itchy and downright infuriating. Look no further than a pair of favorite pjs. Last year, my 12-year-old was studying Dia de los Muertos in Spanish class; then she remembered an old pair of black pajamas with glow-in-the-dark skeleton bones on them. This outfit, coupled with a bit of face-paint and a handful of dollar store flowers twisted into a crown, left her poised to enjoy hours of fun trick-or-treating with her friends sans irritation. Red-and-white striped pajamas can be recycled for Where’s Waldo?, black-and-white stripes can do double-duty as an inmate. Same goes for any other duds in which your kid enjoys spending time. Got an equestrian? Dress up as a jockey. A budding martial artist? Like magic, give them a black belt.

GET CREATIVE

How is this for a box costume!? The Swan Princess 🦢 beautifully created by the incredibly talented @mer_mag – perfect to whip up this weekend if you have book week next week! Just like our own Swan Princess print! Creative kids will love the challenge of making their own costume out of a box! And it will occupy them — for hours. I got the clever idea one year, when I was pregnant, to fashion a replica gas range out of a giant cardboard box and transformed my swollen self into a “bun in the oven” for the night. Hands down my favorite Halloween!) My oldest daughter made a Ms. Pacman sandwich-board style costume out of cardboard and paint one year, which she accented with a pink bow for her hair; several years before that, when Minecraft was wildly popular, she hand-painted a giant box with tiny squares and became Steve. Cardboard is also great for making swords, shields, wands and other miscellaneous embellishments for myriad costumes.

Play grown-up

Or, at the very least, let your kids. Grab an apron, white hat and wooden spoon from the kitchen to create an instant chef; hunt up an old tool belt, sling a hammer through one of the loops, and tuck a pencil behind your child’s ear, and you’ve built a carpenter; the sky’s the limit here. Especially if you are willing to part with a few of your favorite (read replaceable) possessions for a few hours (think armfuls of bangle bracelets; multiple patterned, silk scarves; make up). Do you wear a uniform for work? Offer to let your child be you for a day (in exchange for a hefty fraction of their candy haul, of course).

So your daughter wants to be Harley Quinn and you’re not crazy about her ripping up her new black tights and painting her denim jacket? If all else fails, (thrift) shop around! A slew of options — from Goodwill Industries and local thrift shops to dollar stores and Target — can get your creative juices flowing. Not to mention investing in items that cost a couple bucks — rather than wrecking perfectly good clothes — is priceless. Go ahead and breathe a sigh of relief. This just might be the year you survive October unscathed by the cost and irritation that (literally!) comes with creating original costumes. Now that’s sweet.

Todd Chrisley is 'concerned' about daughter Savannah's pixie haircut

Todd Chrisley is ‘concerned’ after daughter Savannah shows off new pixie haircut… before she doubles down on ‘haters’ with another photo so they ‘can take a closer look’

She began her reality star career on Chrisley Knows Best and expanded to its spinoff series with her brother Chase Chrisley on Growing Up Chrisley.

And on Tuesday night, Savannah Chrisley debuted a pixie haircut on her Instagram – after previously rocking a chin-length ‘do.

While most of her followers gushed about her dramatic new look, her dad Todd Chrisley commented his ‘concern’ about her changed appearance.

Savannah, 22, beamed in the debut picture of her new haircut on Instagram shared on Tuesday; she had her newly cut tresses styled with a few strands grazing her forehead.

The reality star rocked a Gucci logo T-shirt, adding black bottoms, a flannel shirt, aviator sunglasses and jewelry.

The blonde beauty wrote in the caption for her image: ‘Ladies… do what YOU want to do. Don’t base your looks, opinions, beliefs, etc on a man and what HE wants. It’s our world and they just live in it.’

Savannah added a winking emoji and credited hair stylist Shannon Plunk from Jose Eber salon and photographer Nicole Balsamo.

She ended the caption with a quote from Rihanna; she wrote: ‘There’s something so special about a woman who dominates in a man’s world. It takes a certain grace, strength, intelligence, fearlessness, and the nerve to never take no for an answer. – Rihanna.’

Todd took to the comments section of the photo to give his opinion on his daughter’s new haircut.

The 50-year-old reality star wrote: ‘I’m not sure what I’m concerned with most, the lack of hair or the flannel?’

Two hours later, Savannah shared a second snap showing off her shorter hair as she looked down and touched her locks in the pose.

The star captioned: ‘Andddd… another one. Just so the haters can take a closer look @nicolebalsamophoto @shannonplunk @joseeberhair,’ adding the winking and kissing face emojis.

Todd and wife Julie were cleared of state tax evasion charges in Georgia last week; they were accused of evading $2.1 million in state taxes between 2008 and 2016, according to People.

However, they overpaid during four of those years and didn’t owe anything for four years – owing $77,000 in overdue taxes for just one year of incorrect filing.

They signed a settlement agreement with the Department of Revenue to end the two year investigation.

The duo ended up paying $110,000 in the settlement – their total outstanding debt to the state including the unpaid taxes, penalties and interest for their 2009 incorrect filing.

Todd and Julie still face their federal charges for allegedly evading federal taxes during the same time period.

They are also focusing their attention on Joshua Waites, the director of the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Office of Special Investigations.

The duo are suing him, claiming that he was ‘specifically targeting’ them in the state evasion tax charge and that he had a relationship with his estranged daughter Lindsie, according to TMZ.

The reality stars are alleging that Lindsie shared personal information to him in order to gain her trust or intimidate her to cooperate and that he wanted to be in the spotlight.

However, according to insiders for TMZ, Lindsie only spoke to Joshua to protect her six-year-old son Jackson from seeing it go down and didn’t give any ‘dirt’ on her estranged father.

In August, Todd and Julie were indicted by a grand jury for charges of tax evasion, conspiracy bank fraud and wire fraud.

They turned themselves in and hours later, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Weeks before, Lindsie accused her father and her brother Chase of threatening to release a sex tape of her if she didn’t act as an alibi in their alleged tax fraud.

The truth about dollar store pregnancy tests

The dollar store may be your destination for items like cleaning supplies, candy, a quick snack, or a random gift, but what about a pregnancy test? Since tests can cost up to $15, it can be tempting to purchase one at a discounted price (like, $1).  Depending on what you’re buying, though, it’s no secret that going to a dollar store can mean you’re purchasing cheap, poor quality items (via Today). So do dollar store pregnancy test strips really work?

The answer, surprisingly, is yes. Those cheap test strips work just as well as the more expensive grocery or convenience store tests. But if the $15 test produces the same outcome as the $1 test, why aren’t all pregnancy tests a buck?

What's the difference between expensive tests and dollar store pregnancy tests?

The most necessary part of a pregnancy test is the chemically-treated paper that changes color when you urinate on it. According to Likehacker, that paper is cheap to produce, and it’s really just the packaging and branding that hikes up the prices. All the plastic housing that comes along with the more expensive tests — which provides convenience from a user standpoint — costs money, and that’s another reason discount stores can sell them for $1. Those cheaper pregnancy test strips can also be a bit more annoying to use, as you must dip the test strip into a cup rather than the arguably easier method of just sticking the plastic-encased test strip in a stream of urine.

Are dollar store pregnancy tests accurate?

When pregnant, your human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is higher in your urine. All tests, cheap or expensive, look for this increased value, but some are simply more sensitive. Some tests can detect early pregnancy easier than others, whereas other tests would take a few days to register a pregnancy. According to Today’s Parent, dollar store tests are accurate, but may not pick up a low amount of hCG. If you look at the packaging of your test, it will tell you how many units of hCG it will detect. If it has a lower number, it is more sensitive (via Motherly).

Rest assured, buying a cheap pregnancy test can be a positive or negative experience, just like a more costly test from Target, but at least your three-minute wait just got a whole lot cheaper.

Stars Who Are Honest About Their Fertility Struggles

It was a long road to parenthood for Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. “You hear stories about IVF working the first try, but you’ll hear a lot more stories about when it takes a few times,” the supermodel told New York Magazine’s The Cut in April 2018. “Ours didn’t work the first time and it was devastating.”

At times, the Cravings: Hungry for More cookbook author wondered if she had done something wrong. “I remember thinking, ‘Oh I was on my feet too much, and that’s why.’ You just look for anything to blame, especially yourself,” Teigen revealed.

But in the end, IVF worked. Teigen and the R&B singer welcomed daughter Luna in April 2016 and son Miles in May 2018.

Of course, Teigen isn’t alone. Gabrielle Union, Michelle Obama, Kim Kardashian and Jessie J have all spoken out about their infertility struggles. Click through the photos below to read their stories.

Jade Roper Gets Real About Prioritizing Her Mental Health as a Mom

Finding a healthy balance. Jade Roper doesn’t want to forget about the importance of her mental health while raising Emerson, 2, and Brooks, 2 months.

“I was telling Tanner [Tolbert], as much as there is so much joy [in motherhood], there’s so much extra that’s sometimes overwhelming,” the Bachelor alum, 32, told Us Weekly exclusively on Thursday, October 10, at the WE tv Marriage Boot Camp: Family Edition premiere. “Talk to your loved ones. Let them know what you’re going through because there is help and there is hope.”

While Tolbert, also 32, said that his wife “doesn’t do enough of that,” the Colorado native is working on opening up.

“The mom guilt is real and I’m in the newborn stage. It’s so hard,” she explained. “He is so good with our daughter so I feel like when he sees I need help, he’s very quick to step in with her, which is good. Even today, I was like, ‘I’m not OK, I need to talk to you,’ and he wanted to talk. That’s what’s so great that he’s so willing to be there for me.”

Roper expanded on this moment with her husband in a Thursday Instagram post, writing, “I deleted this post earlier, because honestly I’m personally struggling with my mental health right now, and the words I wrote fell flat when I read them. How could I say these things to others when I didn’t/don’t believe them about myself? I deleted the post, walked to the room down the hall, opened the door, and told Tanner, ‘I’m not OK.’ Lean on those you love, ask for help. You are not a burden.”

The Bachelor in Paradise alums, who met and fell in love on season 2 of the ABC show, have their hands full at home with two little ones.

“Today [Brooks] was sleeping upstairs in his bassinet and we just had Emerson on our own and were like, ‘Oh, my gosh, is this how it was with one? Because it’s so easy,’” Roper told Us. “It’s definitely a whole different ball game [now].”

Tolbert added, “Newborns are just hard in general.”

The Bachelorette alum has been honest about the difficult time he’s had bonding with his infant since his July arrival, but the father-son pair are starting to turn a corner. “He’s just starting to smile, which is big for me,” the Kansas native explained to Us. “I finally feel like, ‘Oh, he likes me!’”

Jennifer Aniston Is About to Send Celery Juice Into the Next Stratosphere

Get your blender and get juicing! By the time a wellness trend hits your Instagram feed, you can count on one thing: Healthy-minded celebrities have already tried it out. That’s certainly the case with the newest diet fad: drinking celery juice in the morning.

Ever since Anthony William, a.k.a., the Medical Medium — who counts Gwyneth Paltrow, Jenna Dewan, Robert De Niro, Liv Tyler, Novak Djokovic, Miranda Kerr and more stars and athletes as fans — touted the benefits of celery juice on his website and social media feeds, demand for the leafy green vegetable in liquid form has exploded.

Besides the Life-Changing Foods author’s advocates, plenty of other stars have offered celery juice testimonials. Whether you buy it from your favorite juicery (Kyle Richards says she gets hers at Holy Juice in L.A.), blend it up in your Vitamix or juice it in your juicer (note: blending the veggie lets the pulp remain, which contains filling fiber), the alleged benefits are enticing. Among the supposed health issues the one-ingredient elixir can help with: inflammation, psoriasis, digestion, energy, fatigue and immunity.

While sipping 16 ounces in the morning will certainly help you hydrate and the stalks contain Vitamins K and C, some nutritionists and dietitians aren’t convinced drinking the crudité platter staple does anything too special. As NYC-based registered dietitian Rachel Berman has told Us, the herb hasn’t been extensively studied yet, so the health claims are not proven. Says the General Manager of health site Verywell, “Anecdotally, people report better digestion and reduced bloating when drinking celery juice, but it may just be due to the fact that they’re getting an extra boost of hydration.” As of now, “There is some, but very limited, research on flavonoids in celery showing a reduction in inflammation in the body,” says Berman. “However, celery has not been as widely studied as other fruits and vegetables for its impact on health.”

Until then, celebrities are more than happy to try out the trend and report back. Scroll through to find out who’s juicing — and how they say it helps them.

Yes, You Need to Talk About College With Your High School Freshman

Yes, we know, your kid just started high school. And yes, we still want you to bring up college — now.

Get that awkward conversation rolling, even while your kid’s a mere high school freshman struggling to remember her locker number and find her homeroom in those endless identical hallways. Starting now will be a big help over the next few years as you both wrestle with what you want to get out of her eventual higher-ed experience — and how the %$&@ you’ll pay for it.

For the multimedia project We Need to Talk: College, I recorded a set of fly-on-the-wall college conversations between real parents and their kids. Each was surprising and touching in its own way. But this one, between Lake Oswego, Oregon, mom Julie and her teenage son, Perry, really got to me.

I didn’t realize it at the time, but we were catching them for their very first sit-down on the subject. Perry was a 15-year-old high school student — and let’s just say college was the last thing on this kid’s mind. “He likes to FaceTime with his friends when he gets home,” his mom said. “And he likes Legos. He likes laughing and playing Frisbee and tennis with his dad.” So when they entered the recording studio, they were both in for a lot of surprises about the realities of the planning-for-college experience.

Here’s what Julie and Perry learned: Three unexpected reasons to get your own college conversation underway ASAP.

1. You might think you know what your kid wants, but….

Julie was genuinely shocked to find out how petrified Perry was by the prospect of college. But maybe parents shouldn’t be so surprised. As much as we wring our hands over the idea of empty nest syndrome, it’s just as scary to be the one taking flight.

When we talk to our kids about college, we’re often focused on how valuable undergraduate education is — and we’re right. In terms of financial rewards, graduates make, on average, a million dollars more over a lifetime than their peers who stopped at a high school diploma according to a Georgetown University study. Our teens, meanwhile, probably have a lot of emotions to work through before they can even begin to get excited about taking on that campus adventure solo.

2. You’ll reexamine your own college experience — in all its messy glory

In the video, Julie confesses to her son about her “bad choices” paying for her own higher ed. As a young parent, she couldn’t make her student loan payments and had to defer. (Luckily, she’d taken out federal student loans, which offer more flexible payback plans than do private loans from banks.) The downside: She’s still making those payments. Julie admits to Perry that her choice of major (art) was a factor. “The idea is that you have a job when you graduate,” she tells her son, “unlike me, who was qualified to babysit.” Our kids can have a hard time believing parents ever make mistakes, but they can learn from our foibles — so it might be time to fess up to yours. It might make you feel better too.

3. Your kid will find out how important their college education is to you

One point that didn’t make it into the animated video was just how much Julie was sacrificing to put her kids through college. (She also has a daughter, who’s already attending school.) After decades working at her own one-woman design business, Julie had to make a tough call; she took an office job to pay for college tuition for both of her kids. As Julie told Perry in a part of our recording not included in the video, “I’ve been working for myself for a long time, but that’s not enough to pay our monthly bills and send you both to college.”

To guide you through the first college conversation and the many more that will follow, check out We Need to Talk: College.

Oh, and for one more surprise, ask your kid: How much do you think college will cost? If you’re like Julie, you might be shocked to learn just how little they know about what they’re getting into.

A version of this story was originally published in October 2018.

It probably seems like two weeks since your kid was in diapers, and now you’re already thinking about college. Whether they have their heart set on one dream school or a list for days, they’re going to need your help. We consulted the experts to help make this next stage in your kid’s education go as smoothly as possible.

You have to narrow down your search

If your child is interested in a large number of schools, it’s probably impossible for you to visit each one — especially if they’re in different states. Luckily, most schools offer a virtual tour, meaning you can trim your list from the comfort of your home. The big question to ask your kid at this stage is, what type of school are they interested in? For instance, small or big? State or private? Liberal arts or tech/trade?

As a general rule, it’s a good idea to select three to five schools to visit — ones you’re very serious about and have done your homework on — around six months before you plan to go.

There’s a good time (and a not-so-good time) to visit

The best time to visit a campus is during application time, in the fall of senior year when classes are in session, says Dr. Randi Brown, a New York-based school psychologist and neuropsychologist. Going in the summer only gives you a chance to see the campus layout and facilities. For obvious reasons, try to avoid reading or exam weeks, winter break or holidays. While it’s fine to visit schools on weekends, going on a weekday gives the most authentic picture of what college/campus life is like. The perfect scenario? Visit on a long weekend to give you a sense of what the school is like both on a weekday and the weekend.

Brown recommends visiting all prospective schools within a short amount of time versus spacing visits out, which may be too disruptive to current high school classes — and frees up most of your child’s high school years to focus on their grades, their GPA… and having fun!

It’s wise to let your child take control (but be the note-taker)

When you make your appointment, you’ll have been given instructions (either over the phone or by email). Keep these in a safe place and when it comes to the day of your visit, follow them! Most visits start in the admissions office, and this is when you should take a back seat. This is about your child, so let them do the talking. However, it’s a good idea to take notes, particularly when it comes to minor details your child might not think to ask about (or might not think are important). For example, what are campus safety precautions and are these apparent?

The more notes (and photographs) you take on campus, the better. Your child will need as much help as possible later on when they have to make their big decision. “Try to record not only what you do and who you talked to, but also your thoughts and feelings about spending the next four years on the campus,” Caldarelli suggests. “Photo and journal-style notes will help you think through multiple visits.”

“This is primarily a four-year investment of time and money,” Brown adds. “It’s worth gaining as much information as possible to make an informed decision.”

There are so many opportunities to learn about the school

Whenever you visit, make sure you plan in advance — at least one month to avoid the stress of last-minute plans and changes. Visit the school’s admissions page to schedule your tour online, and keep your eyes peeled for special prospective student days, which offer extended yours, dorm visits and even the opportunity to attend classes. “Choose a class in your intended major, arrive early to introduce yourself to the professor, and try to schedule a brief conference during their office hours,” advised Benjamin Caldarelli, co-founder of Princeton College Consulting. “And don’t be discouraged if they tell you they have nothing to do with admissions. Think of it as part of building your relationship with the college.”

Don’t forget, some schools recommend an interview with an admissions counselor, which is something else to find out about and schedule ahead of time. Even if it’s optional — and the school might refer to it as “informational” rather than “evaluative,” Caldarelli reveals — you shouldn’t miss this opportunity. “It’s a great chance to show you’ve done your homework researching the college, reflected on what you like about it compared to other colleges, and how you see yourself contributing to campus life,” he explained.

Make sure you visit the campus center, says Brown. Usually the hub on campus, this is the place students go between classes to relax, get something to eat and catch up with friends. “You can get a general sense of what campus life might be like by spending a little time there,” she said. “And if someone seems approachable, take the chance to ask for their opinion on what life on campus is like. Think of things you’d want to know about living on campus, being a student, and maybe what they know now that they wished they knew before.” So you might ask questions like: What happens at weekends? Are the dorms well kept? Do they feel safe? This is a good time to ask yourself some questions too: Do students seem stressed or preoccupied with their work? Overall, do you feel a good vibe?

“Students get ideas of what a school is like based on what the school itself puts out there,” Brown says. “Every school will claim to have just what you’re looking for. While that’s nice, I’d say ask the consumer, i.e. the enrolled students. It’s the equivalent of looking up reviews online for a particular site, professional or experience.”

If the school has an overnight stay program, this is another chance to have candid conversations with students outside the admissions office, Caldarelli says. Plus, if you have a full day on campus, you can eat in the cafeteria, stroll around on your own and check out any clubs or activities you might like to be part of.

It’s worth the effort to keep the conversation going

Finally, keep the conversation with the school going, even if your child hasn’t made their mind up yet. Caldarelli recommends collecting the names and emails of everyone you meet on campus, such as the students who gave you the guided tour and the professor whose class you sat in on. At the very least, they deserve a thoughtful thank you note. And at the same time, you can ask them if it’s ok to contact them in the future with further questions — you’re bound to have them.

Reddit gets serious about inappropriate behavior, will BAN for bullies

Reddit will now BAN users for bullying and harassment: Social site gets serious about inappropriate behavior and will now investigate allegations from victims

  • Policy broadens definition of abuse and allows bystanders to report behavior
  •  Prohibited harassment can take place in public forums or private messages/chat
  • One notoriously abusive subreddit, r/braincels, was also closed

Reddit has announced a new anti-harassment policy in the hopes of improving its overall user experience.

The updated policy defines harassment as ‘anything that works to shut someone out of the conversation through intimidation or abuse, online or off.’

Unacceptable behavior is deemed to be anything from ‘directing unwanted invective at someone to following them from subreddit to subreddit, just to name a few.’

Scroll down for video

Reddit’s new anti-bullying policy will allow observers to report behavior and not just victims

Being annoying, strongly disagreeing, or downvoting a person will not be considered harassment, but moderators will be asked to consider larger behavioral patterns and not just individual acts, according to the new policy on Reddit.

In a post explaining the new rules, Reddit user landoflobsters wrote that they were discussed internally for months and motivated primarily by user feedback.

One of the main problems with the old policy was its narrowness, writes landoflobsters, requiring a behavior to be ‘continued’ and/or ‘systematic’ and leave a user ‘fearing for their real-world safety.’

The old policy also required the person being harassed to report those abusing them, which was unfair and could feel overwhelming.

Reddit’s new rules against harassment and bullying (pictured above) went into effect on September 30, 2019

Under the new behavior guide, bystanders will be able to report troublesome behavior for review.

The announcement also coincides with the closure of one of the site’s most abusive subreddits, including r/braincels, an offshoot of the previously banned r/incels subreddit.

The ‘braincels’ subreddit had been called ‘one of the vilest sites on the internet,’ whose users praised Hitler because he ‘had a GF. His personality was awesome,’ promoted rape, and posted about attacking women in public.

In 2018, Reddit passed Facebook and became the third most popular website in the US, behind only Google and YouTube.

While Reddit generates more than 14 billion page views a month and has 330 million active users, the site has fewer than 500 paid employees and relies heavily on volunteer moderators to help enforce its policies.

Reddit isn’t the only social media company focusing on harassment. This week Instagram introduced a new ‘Restrict’ button that will allow users to restrict another person’s access to their account and mute their comments in case of persistent or hostile comments

In the past, moderators have been targeted just as frequently, and sometimes more frequently, than ordinary users.

‘By doing your volunteer job as a mod you’re putting yourself at risk, because, apparently, [Reddit’s] tools are not enough to contain these psychos,’ said Robert Allam, a moderator of the popular r/tifu subreddit.

‘Reddit just keeps allowing these fresh accounts to be made in batches. Most of them are suspended accounts that broke the rules, but they come back for more.’

Reddit isn’t the only social media company focusing on harassment.

WHAT ARE THE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS PEOPLE CAN BE CYBER BULLIED?

According to Dr Larisa McLoughlin, a researcher at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia, cyber bullying can include both overt (name calling, mocking, shaming) or covert (exclusion, isolation) aspects.

Cyberbullying can involve written-verbal behaviors such as phone calls, text messages and comments on social media.

Eight examples of cyberbullying involve:

This week Instagram introduced a new ‘Restrict’ button that will allow users to restrict another person’s access to their account and mute their comments in case of persistent or hostile comments.

It’s meant to give people a way to filter out abusive behavior without formally reporting a user, which might cause them to become even more hostile.

‘Once you Restrict someone, comments on your posts from that person will only be visible to that person,’ according to Instagram.

Kylie Jenner bragged about sex life with Travis Scott before ‘split’

Kylie Jenner bragged about sex life with Travis Scott in Playboy’s Pleasure Issue just two weeks before ‘split’

She covered Playboy’s Pleasure Issue last month in a photo shoot creatively directed by rapper Travis Scott.

And in an interview for the magazine, Kylie Jenner bragged about how her sex life with her baby daddy was better than ever after the birth of their daughter Stormi.

But on Tuesday, a little over two weeks later, TMZ reported that the couple have broken up.

Split: Just a couple of weeks after bragging about their sex life in Playboy, Kylie Jenner has broken up with Travis Scott, TMZ reported on Tuesday

Kylie and Stormi, one, were at Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s second wedding in South Carolina on Monday with no sign of Travis.

It’s a far cry from the seemingly still hot for each other couple that emerged from the pages of Playboy published on September 13.

In a conversation with Travis, Kylie boasted: ‘A lot of people claim that having a baby can hurt your sex life, but I feel like that’s the opposite of our experience. Yeah, I feel like we’ve definitely proven that rumor to be wrong.’

‘You can be sexy and still be a bada** mom,’ she added.

The Life of Kylie and Keeping Up With The Kardashians star also said the reason she and Travis work well together is because he is her ‘best friend.’

‘We think the same and we have the same goals and passions in life,’ she explained.

‘When we have our days off, we play with Stormi all day, and the three of us have a lot of fun together,’ Kylie said. ‘We do a lot of swimming; Stormi loves swimming, so we’re always in the pool or playing in her room or taking her out to lunch with us.’

Travis and Kylie met in 2017 at Coachella and welcomed their daughter on February 1, 2018.

TMZ noted that the pair haven’t been photographed together in public since Kylie, 22, joined Travis, 28, at the premiere of his Netflix documentary Look Mom, I Can Fly on August 27.

The reality star and social media junkie has also not posted anything about the rapper since September 10 when she teased the Playboy spread.

According to TMZ, they had been trying to keep the relationship going for a while but decided several weeks ago to take a break.

People Are Angry About Airline Seat Map That Shows Where Babies Are

Japan Airlines has introduced a new option for its seat selection map — and the tea is spilling, friends. If you haven’t already heard, Japan Airlines travelers can now see online where babies between eight days and two years of age will be seated on flights — so that those who seek to avoid sitting near squalling infants can at least buy a bit of distance from the tiny, wretched humans.

It’s not foolproof: The tool only works for online bookings through the Japan Airlines website. Also, baby icons won’t display if there are last-minute changes in aircraft.

Still, it’s an interesting premise.

Predictably, many people are up in arms about Japan Airlines’ baby profiling. Just hop on Twitter for ten minutes and you’ll see the debate raging.

But I’ve got to tell you, as a mom whose babies both shrieked their heads off on many an airplane ride: I’m actually all for this. And I’m not the only one, either, according to this casual poll,

Look, the stress of traveling with a baby is bad enough. The stress of traveling with a baby with chronic ear troubles that flare on planes is downright terrible. Being seated smack in the middle of furious businessmen (it’s almost always men who are furious at babies, in my experience) with a screaming baby who’s in pain is quite literally hell. I’d have loved to have been able to stare down an angry guy in a suit and said, “You know, you could have chosen another seat, dude.”

Instead, I found myself groveling and apologizing every time for my poor kid who couldn’t help herself, then ignoring hateful glares for the duration of the flight while trying to soothe my infant. On one flight, I burst into tears along with my baby, because the people around me were so vicious and outspoken about their disgust for my situation. The baby-shaming on flights is real. And sadly, I don’t see humans improving any time soon.

And honestly? My girls are teens now, but I would have flown on a families-only airline if I could have. Why not take advantage of at least a baby-friendly section, with others in the same unenviable situation? Misery loves company — and a shared wan smile of solidarity goes a long, long way on a red-eye from LAX to LGA.

Is it a way for airlines to charge yet another premium? Oh, probably. I’m not naive. It’s a rotten industry, not one bit people-friendly, and focused on the bottom dollar. The airlines are constantly scheming for new ways to charge new fees, and a baby-distant seat may just be another one of those ways. Still, that’s a surcharge I’d have gladly paid. And actually, even though my girls are long past those days, I might even pay it now, just to sit near a mom who might need help like I so sorely needed it then — and to (hopefully) avoid a manspreading, mansplaining white dude in a suit, downing his third Jack-and-Coke. I wish they had icons for that guy, but until then, it’s a crapshoot, I guess.

Are there worst seatmates than babies? HELL YES. But until there’s a way to profile them and steer clear? I’m cool with letting them steer clear of me and my baby.

Why I Told My Kids About My Miscarriage

We were in the grocery store when my miscarriage started. I was scouring the breakfast food aisle for my kids’ favorite cereal, something I’ve done a hundred times before, when the bottom fell out of our lives. I instantly knew the wetness in my underwear was a bad sign, and I fought back tears as I pulled the kids out of the shopping cart and escorted them into the small bathroom stall. They both put their tiny hands on my back as I hung my head and sobbed at the drops of blood in the toilet. In the midst of my own grief and confusion, I was struck by the question: How on earth do you talk to kids about miscarriage?

When I had told my husband that I was unexpectedly pregnant with our third child, our nearly five-year-old daughter was less than 10 feet away. She was too engrossed in her LEGOs to hear what we were talking about, and missed our shared anxiety over the news — can we afford another kid, would we have to buy a bigger house, could we afford a bigger house — but she turned to look at us as our trepidation turned to joy.

“They’re going to be so excited about this,” I whispered to my husband after our oldest asked us what we were talking about. My husband thought we should wait to tell them the good news though, his argument was that they’d be unable to keep the news a secret until we were ready to share it ourselves.

I countered that it didn’t really matter. This was our third, and last, baby. The thrill of making a big spectacle of the announcement had worn off after the second kid. Plus, I didn’t feel like we needed to wait for the traditional 12 weeks before going public. After all, I’d already had two perfectly healthy pregnancies, I had no reason to suspect this one would be any different.

Together we called her and her two-year-old sister over to the couch where we’d been sitting, and told them the news. They literally screamed with excitement, and the two of them took turns kissing my yet unchanged belly while telling the baby how much they already loved it.

I quickly found out my husband was right — our oldest told every person she laid eyes on that there was a baby in my belly — strangers on the street, the cashier at the grocery store, even the new family that moved in next door. It was the first sentence out of her mouth anytime she encountered someone she hadn’t had a chance to tell yet. It was an exciting time for the four of us as we grew into the idea that some day we would be five.

Then came that day in the grocery store.

In the days that followed my miscarriage, I had to return to the hospital several times for repeat blood work to confirm what we already knew — the hormones indicating pregnancy were declining instead of increasing, I was losing my baby.

I cried a lot in those days. So much so that my oldest associated “blood tests” with sadness.

“I wish you didn’t need another blood test,” she told tell me as I sat at the kitchen table, suddenly reduced to tears in the middle of lunch. I was walking a fine line between trying to keep it together in front of them, and letting them see me experience my fear and grief. I wanted them to understand that it was okay to cry, especially when something upsetting happened, but I also wanted them to know that everything was going to be okay no matter what happened.

Once we had the final test results showing that my HcG had dropped below 50 we told them the truth. Up until then we had been trying to prepare them for bad news by letting them know that sometimes, in early pregnancy, babies just stop growing and mommies have to start over again.

Our oldest would respond by saying that she really hoped that wouldn’t happen because she already loved this baby, and my heart broke a little each time I had to tell her that we already loved this baby too and really hoped that it would keep growing.

We told them about the miscarriage the same way we told them about the pregnancy: together on the couch as a family. My oldest wailed as her face crumpled and she slid to the ground. “I don’t want the baby to go away,” she sobbed. “I love it!”

My husband and I fought back our own tears as we struggled to comfort her and her little sister, who was crying because everyone else was and she didn’t know what else to do.

A few minutes after we all got ourselves under control the kids went back to their usual spot at the kitchen table with their LEGOs and art supplies and I got up to do a load of laundry and get lunch ready. The miscarriage was temporarily forgotten as life went back to exactly how it had been six weeks before.

In the days that followed I cried less, it was almost as though knowing the baby wasn’t going to make it was better than waiting to find out. When I did cry, and when my daughter would ask me if I was okay, I’d tell her that I was just sad about the baby. Then I’d tell her that I was already feeling much better. I used the experience to show her that even during the saddest times it was possible to feel better.

She didn’t cry again after that first day. And although she still told strangers more than I’d like — she announced to a very sweet older woman in the parking lot that there used to be a baby in mommy’s tummy but it died — she seemed to move on from the loss fairly quickly. We still talked about the baby whenever she brought it up, and I explained that we were sad, and it’s not what we had hoped for, but that sometimes these things just happen.

I thought about what she would remember of this time when she became an adult and I decided that I want her to have these memories of me experiencing pain and sadness in a healthy way. I want her to remember that I cried for a minute on the couch when I opened an email from my baby tracker app telling me what I could expect during this week of my pregnancy, but that I wiped my tears away and got her a snack a few minutes later when she asked for one.

If she decides to have a baby someday, I want her to remember that miscarriages happen, and that they happen to people she knows. Not because I want her scared or prepared, but because I want her to be able to talk about her own fears and emotions openly. We don’t publicly talk about pregnancy loss as a society, and that does a great disservice to the families who experience it. Nearly one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage. That’s a lot of quiet grief that nobody should have to endure alone.

Most of all, I want her to remember that this period was a very sad time for our family, but that the sadness didn’t last forever. I’d like for her to have the memories of how we had age-appropriate conversations about what we were feeling, and how we didn’t hide our emotions or bury them under something else.

I hope that by being open and honest with her as I navigated these new emotions, I gave her the blueprints to navigate her own big emotions some day.

Sweet: In early November, Kate and Rio announced their engagement after he proposed on a family trip to Abu Dhabi in front of his three children, Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and Tia, eight

The former England star first started dating Kate in late 2016, following the death of his wife Rebecca – who is the mother of his three children – in 2015.

According to Daily Sabah, the Mayor of Marmaris told Demirören News Agency (DHA) that he officiated the wedding of the couple on Friday night in front of a crowd of exclusive guests.

Mehmet shared: ‘Both the couple and the guests told me that they enjoyed Marmaris a lot. Ferdinand said they will visit Marmaris in the years to come.’

The reality star and her new husband are thought to have invited around 100 guests to their ceremony and reception.

Rio and Kate’s celebrations kicked off on Thursday with a pre-wedding party, followed by the ceremony and a reception on Friday – where Rio’s daughter Tia served as Maid Of Honour.

The reception kicked off mid-afternoon and continued into the night, where the guests enjoyed a boozy free bar and gastronomic delights prepared by expert chefs.

Armed security guards had reportedly been deployed at the hotel, where rooms range from £300 to £5,000 per night, for the three-day wedding celebrations.

Kate and Rio are said to have ended their nuptials with a lavish pool party on Saturday at the 196-room hotel their guests were staying in while out in Turkey.

Officiated: According to Daily Sabah, the Mayor of Marmaris told Demirören News Agency (DHA) that he officiated the wedding on Friday night in front of a crowd of exclusive guests

The five-star hotel’s pool was strictly off limits to other guests as Rio and Kate were joined by friends and family at their exclusive bash.

Their party area was adorned with white flowers, while plush canopied sun beds were placed around the edges of the pool, which offered stunning views of the Mediterranean sea.

The wedding party boogied the night away to an array of R&B hits, soul classics and reggae, featuring the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Will.i.am and Bob Marley.

Staff were allegedly asked to leave their phone’s locked away during their shifts to adhere to the wedding’s strict social media ban.

While their guests lived it up in the hotel’s palatial accommodation, the newlyweds are thought to have stayed in a luxury villa complete with its own patio, private pool and sauna.

A hotel guest, who did not want to be named, told MailOnline: ‘It was quite a party. You could hear the music and the cheering throughout the hotel. The whole pool area had been sealed off, even for us.

‘There was a lot of champagne and other drink flowing. It was a very boisterous affair and looked like great fun. You could feel the love in the air for the couple and that’s very beautiful.’

Eyewitnesses told MailOnline that they were surprised that more of Rio’s former football team-mates and other celebrities were not spotted.

Picturesque: The hotel offers bespoke packages that include tailor-made menus and a specially-made wedding cake

One said: ‘It seems as if it was an overwhelmingly a family and friends affair, which is quite unusual for a high-profile wedding such as this. I was looking out for famous footballers and other figures but did not see any. Perhaps they were just keeping a low profile.’

So far little has been revealed about which stars flew to Turkey for the big day, although a source told MailOnline that Lydia Bright was the only former TOWIE co-star of Kate’s to be invited.

A member of staff at the hotel described the scale of the stunning wedding, they told MailOnline: ‘We’ve not had a wedding like this for a long time and it’s been a lot of hard work.

In the works: Preparations for the hotel ahead of the wedding were teased by a staff member who posted a video to Instagram Stories, but otherwise little was revealed about the big day

‘I’m a big football fan and know who Rio Ferdinand is but I’ll be happy when things return to normal at this hotel,’ said one worker called Mehmet.

It comes after it was reported that the couple were finally set to tie the knot this weekend, ten months after announcing their engagement.

The couple are said to have set their hearts on holding their special day in Turkey after jetting to the country in secret.

On Thursday, a source told The Sun: ‘All their family and friends are already there. Phones have been taken from everyone — nobody has one.’

Set to return: He said: ‘Both the couple and the guests told me that they enjoyed Marmaris a lot. Ferdinand said they will visit Marmaris in the years to come’ (Picture in June 2018)

The couple have been together since early 2017, but two years prior to his relationship with Kate, Rio tragically lost his first wife and the mother of his children, Rebecca Ellison to breast cancer at the age of just 34.

Following Rebecca’s passing, Rio has been open about the struggles of raising his children without her. Kate has since formed a close bond with his offspring.

Speaking of her romance with the former Manchester United player, Kate previously told Daily Mail’s YOU magazine: ‘Rio and I just clicked.

‘I knew about the children and what had happened but at first I didn’t give it much thought.

Wedding bells: It comes after it was reported that the couple were finally set to tie the knot this weekend, ten months after announcing their engagement

‘When you meet someone you’re just enjoying the moment, not thinking about how serious things might become.’

‘I fell in love with Rio, then I met the kids and fell in love with them. I realised, ‘Wow, my life is going to change’. I couldn’t be part of his life and not part of theirs.

‘I knew it would be a challenge, but if you love someone you go with it and deal with the difficult stuff.’

Back in July last year, Kate discussed her decision to leave behind the world of TOWIE and showbiz to become a step-mother.

The former reality star spoke to The Sun about quitting the limelight as she insisted his kids ‘needed someone at home’ following Rebecca’s death.

She admitted they have worked to ‘include the kids in everything’ to ensure their relationship worked, after first getting together.

After soaring to fame on TOWIE in 2015, when she was introduced as the ex-girlfriend of show heartthrob Dan Edgar, she became a fan favourite, with her sizzling figure and girl’s girl personality winning hearts.

Despite two years of fame, winning various lucrative contracts and garnering over 1million Instagram followers, she confirmed her time in the spotlight was up in 2017.

Family unit:  Kate explained of her decision to prioritise love over fame, ‘I had two choices. I’m in this world with lots of drama and then I met Rio and the children’

In her candid discussion, Kate explained: ‘I had two choices. I’m in this world with lots of drama and then I met Rio and the children and, I thought, “I’m with these kids, who have lost their mum, they don’t need a woman who is out all the time…

‘”They need someone at home with them.’ A really big part of our relationship and it working for the children is that we’ve included them in everything we’ve done…

So from the first date, him asking me to be his girlfriend, us moving in — everything — the kids were part of it. So it wasn’t me taking their dad away from them, it was more us becoming a family unit.’

Since finding love again with Kate, Rio kept the details of their love life notably private, but in the past year has been sharing Instagram snaps of their adventures.

Living it up: Rio recently shared some throwback snaps from his stag do on his Instagram page in July, showing off his athletic physique as he went shirtless by the pool

With both having a penchant for the gym, the couple often upload footage of their workouts together, much of which was presumably in preparation for their nuptials.

The lovebirds celebrated their upcoming wedding with lavish hen and stag getaways over the summer – and they gave fans a glimpse via their social media accounts.

Rio enjoyed a raucous weekend in Barcelona with his pals in July, clutching a doll bearing his fiancée’s face under one arm, reassuring her she was ‘never far away’ during the trip.

The TV pundit was joined by 11 of his nearest and dearest including brother Anton and cousin Max for his wild weekend.

Kate also had a similar Rio doll for her own hen do on the Greek island of Mykonos two weekends beforehand.

Happiness for Rio after the death of his wife Rebecca aged just 34

Rio has been candid about the difficulty of becoming a single parent following the tragic death of his wife Rebecca Ellison.

He met Rebecca, a former fitness trainer and accountant, while he was at West Ham United in the late 1990s. The pair married in the Caribbean in 2009.

Rebecca was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 but had appeared to be clear of the cancer following treatment

But a scan earlier in 2015 revealed it had returned and spread to her bones and she died just five weeks later on May 1.

The BT Sport pundit opened up about his loss in a BBC documentary – Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum and Dad, in which he explored ways of managing grief.

Rio broke down in tears as he accepted the BAFTA award for Best Single Documentary in May 2018, saying: ‘I didn’t do this for any other reason other than my three kids. The worst thing to come out of this is that I get quite emotional now.

Ferdinand was still playing professional football for Queens Park Rangers when Rebecca lost her battle with breast cancer, but retired the same month without playing a further match.

Rio found happiness again with Kate, after previously opening up about losing his wife Rebecca, in a tearful conversation six months after her death.

The father-of-three said in the weeks following her death in May 2015 didn’t ‘look at himself’ and instead focused on his children — sons Lorenz, then nine, Tate, then six, and daughter, Tia, just four. It was ‘all about the school run, the basic stuff,’ he said.

He filmed a documentary, Being Mum and Dad, in 2017,  about how he and his three children have coped with grief.

‘This is one of the only things in life that we’re going to go through together, where I haven’t got the answers for them, and that’s quite a worrying, daunting thing’, he said in the programme.

‘When they don’t speak, it’s difficult sometimes, you’re just sitting there going like ‘what are they thinking? Where are they? Are they worried, are they happy, are they sad?”

Rio added that while he is ‘desperate to know’ what his children are thinking, he doesn’t ‘want to scare them.’

In a previous interview with The Sun, he admitted his wife’s battle was a private one, as she opted to stay out of the limelight for the sake of her family.

‘Rebecca was an incredibly brave woman and a very private person who didn’t want anything about her illness to appear in the media while she was fighting for her life,’ Rio noted. ‘Only a close-knit group of family and friends knew.’

Everything We Know About Season 7 of 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

After a successful sixth season, NBC renewed Brooklyn Nine-Nine for season 7. The show was not always on NBC. After being canceled by Fox after season 5, NBC picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The sixth season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine showed the hilarious comedy fit perfectly in NBC’s comedy lineup.

Season 6 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine ended in May 2019 and was the show’s first season on NBC. The season consisted of 18 episodes. With a seventh season in the works, some fans might wonder what they should expect from the upcoming season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

How did the sixth season of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ end?

Like most season finales of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the sixth season ended with a total disruption for the characters in the show. Jake Peralta and Captain Holt discovered Commissioner Kelly illegally wiretapped the general population. The squad works with some of their sworn rivals, Madeline Wuntch, The Vulture, and C.J., to try and prove his crimes.

They are successful in proving Commissioner Kelly’s crimes, and Madeline Wuntch becomes commissioner. She uses some of her new power for good by allowing Terry Jeffords to stay at the Nine-Nine. However, she uses her newfound power to demote Captain Holt to patrol officer to make up for his missing days.

“Andre Braugher is an officer, he’s not a captain. I am the lieutenant, I am in his office. It’s so bizarre, I still don’t feel like it’s mine,” said Terry Crews. “We love to turn things on its ear. It’s so wild because we’re all changing and growing.”

The Jimmy Jab Games return

The characters in Brooklyn Nine-Nine love to partake in challenges and heists. In season 2, the characters participated in the Jimmy Jab Games. In this game, the characters make up absurd and unwise challenges for their co-workers to complete around the precinct.

Amy Santiago won the last time the group played. In an interview with EW, Brooklyn Nine-Nine cast member Joe Lo Truglio revealed the seventh season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine would show the return of the Jimmy Jab Games. The actor also revealed there would be another heist episode.

“…we’re hoping to have a heist,” he said.

During the show’s five seasons on Fox, the characters in Brooklyn Nine-Nine participated in an annual Halloween heist. However, when the show moved to NBC, Brooklyn Nine-Nine did not air around Halloween. For this reason, the characters held the heist on Cinco de Mayo instead.

Season 7 of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ does not premiere in September

Most shows return to TV in the fall, usually around September. However, season 7 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will not premiere in September. When the show moved to NBC, Brooklyn Nine-Nine received a mid-season premiere date on NBC.

Like the sixth season, season 7 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will also have a mid-season premiere date and air in January 2020. As of May 2019, the seventh season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will have 13 episodes. NBC bumped the sixth season up from 13 episodes to 18 episodes, so perhaps the same thing will happen closer to the premiere date of season 7 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Pink Gets Candid About How Hard It Is Raising Kids Without Grandparents Around

Music icon Pink continues to hold the No. 1 spot on our Mom Crush Chart, simply for her effortless ability to keep her connection to her fans 100 percent real despite her fame and fortune. As a mom, she’s tops — and as a woman reflecting on her younger days and past choices, she’s even more amazing and relatable.

Recently she posted on Instagram a throwback pic sent to her by her father, with a heartfelt, thoughtful musing about how hard it is to raise kids far away from their grandparents. Her post struck a chord with many of her fans (including us):

“My dad sent me this picture today,” Pink captioned the photo. “I can’t believe how little she was. How simple it was. When I got grown, I moved as far away from my family as I could while still being in the same country. And now, I wish I lived next door. I wish my kids could walk to their house and have a cookie I wouldn’t approve of. I don’t believe in regrets, but I do believe in growth, and change. And I miss my dad.”

Fans responded warmly in the comment thread.

“So true. At the time your felt it was best. And with growth things change relationships change toxicity doesn’t effect you like they used to. You rock,” wrote one.

“Your relationship with your Father is so Beautiful. Cherish your moments together. Sending you love,” said another.

A third responded, “While I recognize that my kids need to spread their wings and make their own way in the world, I see now more than ever the importance of having those who’ve got your back be by your side. Family is everything.”

Pink has posted about her family before, particularly about her dad, with whom she is very close. This Instagram post of hers shows the kind of bond they have:

Of all the photos I could’ve posted of my dad and I, for Father’s Day I wanted to post this one. This shitty photo was taken by a shitty paparazzi in New York the day I announced that my marriage was broken, and over. Feb 21. I will remember this day forever. I walked out of my hotel room alone, and this paparazzi said to me “how’s the divorce going pink.” And after I told him a couple of things I won’t repeat here, I cried. I turned around. And I went back inside. I called my dad. He came right away. He jumped on a train, no questions asked, and was in my room three hours later. He said, “lets go. We’re goin out.” Here we are. He has been my person all of my life. He has fought monsters in my closet, and monsters that posed as principals in school buildings, you name it. He has taken on the world for and with me, no questions asked. He made me feel important. He made me think I was worth loving. He taught me how to do it all myself. And when no one else was there, he told me to love myself. I thank my stars for this man, that he was strong enough not only to fight his own monsters but mine too, and now my kids. I love you daddy sir. ❤️ happy Father’s Day

Pink shares daughter Willow and son Jameson with husband Carey Hart, a former motocross racer. And though her folks aren’t around all the time, she’s doing an amazing job balancing family, marriage and career (and the idiot mommy-shamers) — and she makes us want to hug our own parents right now.
