And the infamous gaffe caught up with Richard Wilkins, 62, on Wednesday, as he came face-to-face with the very much alive Jurassic Park star.
The famed entertainment reporter posted a photo to Instagram, that saw him and the 64-year-old actor enjoying a night out at Los Angeles’ Rockwell Table and Stage.

Richard gave a wry smile in the photo, while a ‘lurking’ Jeff popped his head up behind the presenter, hamming it up with a cheeky grin.
The veteran Today show reporter Richard captioned the encounter to Instagram: ‘All is forgiven! Great catch up with the uber talented and very alive @jeffgoldblum’.
Fans were quick to rib Richard with one commenting: ‘Too funny @richardwilkins but you’ll still never live it down,’ while Nova 969 presenter Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli offered him a simple ‘Brilliant’ in response.

Richard had his Today co-hosts remind him of the blunder last month, during a segment on the actor’s recent visit to Sydney.
A news item on the star’s appearance in upcoming film Jurassic World 2 and mentioning of his trip to Australia, prompted Karl and Lisa to allude to Richard’s previous error.
‘It’s good to see him looking so good,’ Karl quipped, then added: ‘Dead on his feet’.
‘Those rumours of his demise were very, VERY premature,’ chimed in Lisa.

‘He’s back on his feet, crisis over and he’s a lovely fellow, Jeff Goldblum,’ Richard replied with a smile.
It was during his reporting of Michael Jackson’s death on June 26, 2009 when the veteran personality interrupted coverage to falsely announce the actor had also passed.
‘We are reading reports Jeff Goldblum has died whilst filming in New Zealand,’ he prematurely announced.

‘This is completely, completely, well, New Zealand police are saying he that fell to his death, Jeff Goldblum,’ he continued.
He interviewed the Hollywood star in 2016 and shared a laugh about the incident.
‘What if I died on air, what if I had a heart attack on the air now?’ the actor joked.
