Kim Kardashian's husband says her family makes him more ambitious

Kanye West claims he stays ambitious because Kim Kardashian’s family is so successful as he calls himself ‘the greatest artist of human existence’

Kanye West has praised the Kardashians for keeping him motivated.

The 42-year-old rapper said that if Kim and her sisters did not work so hard every day, he may have chosen to relax more.

But because they are always staying on top of their brands, he has chosen to do so too the TV star said during the The New York Times DealBook Conference on Wednesday.

His view: Kanye West has praised the Kardashians for keeping him motivated. The 42-year-old rapper said that if Kim and her sisters did not work so hard every day, he may have chosen to relax more; seen leaving the FastCompany Innovation Festival in NYC on Thursday

He wants to… keep up with the Kardashians! All of the women in Kim’s family are very successful; the siren is seen here with Kourtney, left, and Khloe, right

West is married to Kim Kardashian with whom he has four children: North, six, Saint, three, Chicago, 21 months, and Psalm, five months.

And Kim has four sisters that all work very hard. In addition to starring on Keeping Up With The Kardashians they have other projects.

Kourtney has Poosh, Khloe stars on her spinoff Revenge Body, Kylie is a $1B makeup mogul and Kendall is the number one supermodel in the world.

Rambling man: West made his comments during The New York Times DealBook Conference on Wednesday. Seen with Steven Smith

‘I think if my family wasn’t so … if they didn’t work so hard and they weren’t so omnipresent, maybe I would just rest on my laurels of just being the greatest artist of human existence, and that would just be enough,’ the star said.

‘But that’s shown that that is not enough.’

He then said that staying fit and talking out problems is also on top of the list.

‘You have to hit the gym, you have to communicate – it’s a modern-day Medici or Rome. It’s an era that people will remember for all of human existence,’ he added.

Motivated: The family seen together for Kris Jenner’s 64th birthday

The Heartless rapper is proud of his family, and says he can’t wait to launch his new project, which involves an ‘innovation community’ centered around his church.

Asked what he’s proud of at the moment, he added: ‘Looking at my daughters and looking at my family, and as we are starting this church and this innovation community where we’re doing education.’

Kanye also spoke about social media, and drew parallels between its addictive nature and cigarettes, though he made sure to note that social media is not as ‘negative’ as the latter.

Mogul 1: Kim runs SKIMS and has KKW Beauty and KKW Fragrance

You glow, girl: Khloe runs Good American and has the show Revenge Body

‘I’ve done interviews often that if I post 100 posts, they’re like, “He needs to go to a hospital, he’s going crazy,”‘ he said.

‘But Instagram and different social media, they have the likes come back at a slower speed.

‘They have a certain amount of posts that you should do to look normal.’

Kim and her mom also stopped by the NYT.

Mrs West discussed Instagram taking LIKES away with Andrew Ross Sorkin: ‘I think about when I raise my kids and screen time, phone time, what to post, what not to post, even posting things in real time. I learned from a bad experience that I had when I was robbed that people really knew my every move, they knew what I had, they knew where I was, what I was doing, and that to me really changed maybe the things that I post.

She has her own biz too: Kourtney runs the website Poosh

‘I still want people to feel like they’re along that journey with me, but I might video something and then post it like 30 minutes later, when I’ve left the location more for privacy. But as far as mental health, I mean it’s something that taking the likes away and taking that aspect away from it would be really beneficial for people.

‘And I know that the Instagram team has been having lots of inner conversations with a bunch of people to get everyone’s take on that and is taking it really seriously. That makes me happy.’

She also talked activism: ‘I am really cautious about what I spend. So if I overspend on something and a paid post happens to come in at that time, I’ll weigh it out and think, O.K., well I have to pay for x, y, and z.’

Arsenal in yet more misery as William Saliba suffers broken foot and facing lengthy spell out while at Saint-Etienne – The Sun

ARSENAL have suffered a fresh blow, with defender William Saliba suffering another serious injury.

The £27million summer signing is currently on loan at Saint-Etienne, from whom the Gunners signed him from in the summer.

And Les Verts boss Claude Puel has confirmed to the club's official website that the 18-year-old broke his fifth metatarsal against Monaco at the weekend.

Saliba had only been back to full fitness for five weeks, having had to undergo an operation on an abductor muscle injury.

After securing his signature in July, the Gunners allowed Saliba to return to his parent club in order to continue his development before arriving at the Emirates.

But this latest injury will be another blow for the young centre-back's progression.

Saliba was spotted at Arsenal's training ground back in September as he neared the end of his rehabilitation from his abductor operation.

And Saliba may have to check in to London Colney again, as he faces months on the treatment table.

The news comes on the back of yet another disappointing night for the Gunners.

Unai Emery thought that Shkodran Mustafi's header had secured an under-par Arsenal three points against the relatively unknown Portuguese side Vitoria in the Europa League.

But more kamikaze defending allowed Bruno Duarte to equalise in stoppage time.

And to make matters worse, midfield creator Dani Ceballos had to be substituted early in the second half after picking up a niggle.

Ceballos will now likely miss the Gunners' tricky trip to Leicester on Sunday – in a match that could see the Foxes climb nine points above Arsenal in the battle for top four.

See Shay Mitchell and More Celebs' Third Trimester Bikini Baby Bumps

Bump watch! While some celebrities keep their pregnancies on the down-low, these expecting stars showed their budding bellies off in bikinis all the way into their third trimesters.

Jessica Simpson gave fans a glimpse of her baby bump in a March 2019 Instagram post captioned, “Jess-tation.” In the upload, the Dukes of Hazzard actress cradled her stomach while wearing sparkly sunglasses and a patterned bikini top.

The singer announced that she and her husband, Eric Johnson, are expecting their third child together in September 2018, after welcoming their daughter, Maxwell, and their son,  Ace, in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Whether she was trying to squeeze between cars in a parking lot or lounging on a sleep recliner after a bout of acid reflux, Simpson showed her baby bump off all pregnancy long.

She even posted pics of her swollen feet, and the toilet lid that she broke by leaning back too far.

Kate Hudson documented her third pregnancy on social media as well. One month before she gave birth to her and Danny Fujikawa’s daughter, Rani, the Fabletics creator shared a mirror selfie in a bathrobe and bright orange bikini. With her bare bump on full display, Hudson paid homage to her belly button by captioning the pic, “#Outie.”

Take a look at the gallery below to see how many other celebrity moms, including Olivia Wilde, Catherine Giudici and Hilary Duff, have bared their bumps in bathing suits during the last three months of their pregnancies.

Amber Rose, Duchess Kate, More Moms Who Suffered From Hyperemesis Gravidarum

Not private about their pregnancies! These celebrity moms have suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum and shared their stories about the tough time.

The pregnancy complication, which is characterized by severe nausea and dehydration, takes morning sickness to an extreme. While mild cases are treated with dietary changes and rest, some mothers-to-be end up in the hospital receiving fluid and nutrition through an IV.

NYC reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Jaime Knopman told Us Weekly exclusively in September 2017: “Oddly enough there are some studies that women with HG have a lower miscarriage rate. The thinking is that the higher hCG levels indicate a healthy and robust placenta. The better the placenta, the better the chance that the pregnancy will progress.”

Duchess Kate suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum when she was pregnant with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Other celebrity moms, including Amy Schumer and Amber Rose, have opened up about similar experiences.

The SlutWalk founder told her Instagram followers in May 2019 that she had gone through this while carrying her son, Sebastian, and that her second pregnancy was no different.

“For people that don’t know what it is, it’s basically extreme nausea, vomiting and dehydration, and [I’m] really, really tired,” Rose told her social media followers at the time. “I can eat a little bit more now because I’m in my second trimester, but not much, and I pretty much sleep all day.”

She added: “I try to, like, be cute and get my hair done, and then I just slept in it and messed it up. All in all, babies are a blessing. God bless women, man. We are resilient. We get through it. It’s really, really hard being pregnant. I’m not gonna lie.”

These $19 Yoga Pants Have More Than 4,000 Positive Amazon Reviews

If you’re anything like me, the last time you donned a pair of bootleg yoga pants was way back when Miley Cyrus was still a Disney darling. But let’s be real: You’ve probably been missing the undeniable comfort of a stretchy set of flared pants for the past decade or so.

The good news? You can now score a pair of bootleg bottoms that are apparently so soft, so lightweight, and so flattering that they’ll make you finally forget about those perfectly worn-in SoLows from high school (#tbt).

Meet: the Spalding Women’s Bootleg Yoga Pant, a nearly 100 percent cotton creation that has racked up a whopping 5,209 Amazon reviews—4,208 of which are positive—and costs less than $19. Head’s up, though: Apparently they’re so amazing they’ve given one buyer “hoarding status.”

Available in three colors—black, charcoal heather, and ultra navy—each pair of these classic pants provides light compression around the tush and thighs, making for a flattering fit on every type of body. Don’t believe me? Just take it from this passionate purchaser who, btw, calls them the “best workout pants” she’s ever bought: “They are so flattering and make your shape look nice. I think they would make any body type look good honestly.”

But that’s not the only perk of this flared find. According to the thousands of raving reviewers, the part-cotton, part-spandex jersey yoga pants are thin enough to stay cool and comfy mid-sweat sesh but thick enough to avoid any see-through snafus.

And apparently they stay this way through months, if not longer, of wear and tear.

You’re a wizard, Harry Spalding yoga pants! A wizard!

No More Filtered Pics! How Demi Lovato Found Self-Acceptance

Demi Lovato is proud of her body and wants the whole world to know it — so she can help encourage everyone else to be proud of themselves too.

After famously posting an unedited and unfiltered shot of herself in a leopard bikini on Instagram in September 2019, the singer has continued on her path of self-acceptance. And she’s getting her fans in on the game too. “She knows the power of her voice,” an insider says in the new issue of Us Weekly, “and wants to use it for good.”

In the past, Lovato, 27, had doctored photos she posted. In fact, the unedited September Instagram photo that showed her cellulite was from the same group of pics that she posted from in May 2019. But the visual difference is marked. “I hate that I did that,” the “Body Say” singer wrote in the caption of Photoshopping images in the past. “But it’s the truth.”

Her journey for body acceptance — which has only become more powerful after she suffered an accidental overdose in July 2018 — has been good for her health too. “She has continued to stay sober, eat clean, keep a very fixed workout regimen, along with keeping her intimate circle of friends very close,” the source tells Us of the star, who has talked of her struggles with eating disorders. “All of these things help shape a positive, progressive and continued bright future for her.”

The “Sober” songstress revealed earlier this month that she got a tattoo to commemorate her friend Thomas Trussell III, who died of a drug overdose on October 8, 2019. “Addiction is NO joke,” she wrote in an Instagram Story immediately followed Trussell’s accidental death.

Lovato’s recent trip to Israel “to help ‘find’ herself again” was also a success, continues the source: It “seems to have done the trick. She feels that she has a newfound direction in her more controlled and healthy state, and that is to be at peace with yourself and take comfort in who you are.”

After all, notes the source, “she takes pride in being who she is and wants to utilize her platform to voice that it’s okay to be who you are and that no one is perfect. She wants to show that you don’t need to strive to be someone you aren’t and encourage her fans to own who they are.”

Victoria Beckham has revealed she has become more confident in herself as she has got older.

The fashion designer, 45, appeared on Wednesday’s edition of This Morning where she told how she used to have ‘little paranoias’ when she was younger.

She said: ‘[I] definitely feel more confident now. Definitely. There were things that I used to, little paranoias that I used to have when I was younger about myself that I just don’t care so much about now that I’m older.

‘You know, I think it’s about focusing on the good bits and just being kind to yourself, you know. I mean, I think everybody should be kind to themselves and kind to each other.’

The former Spice Girl also discussed her dedication to fitness, putting her physique down to her exercise regime.

She said: ‘I exercise a lot. I used to be a dancer before I was in the Spice Girls. My plan was to be a dancer and then everything changed.

‘So exercise and dance has always been key to me. But I enjoy it. I put on my own playlist and I dance and it makes me feel good.

It comes after Victoria previously told how she also keeps healthy by drinking a lot of water and by telling herself that red wine is good for her.

‘Lots and lots of water,’ she said. And I tell myself that it’s healthy to drink red wine, I heard that once!

‘And I think that it was probably the wine industry that said that, but I like it so I kind of throw that into the conversation as well.’

Quizzed about how they make their family unit work despite their busy schedules, Victoria said ‘communication is key’.

‘We’re very present in the kids’ lives. We love our family, everything we do revolves around them’, she added.

‘I think it’s just being focused, working hard, having a great support team around us. And both of our parents help out with the kids.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10:30am on ITV.

She said: ‘The kids are our priority, everything we do revolves around the children. We both work really hard, we love what we do professionally’

SpaceX files for 30,000 more satellites on top of its approved 12,000

SpaceX files paperwork for 30,000 more Starlink satellites for high-speed internet – amid fears they will litter the night sky and make stargazing impossible

  • SpaceX filed paperwork to launch and operate 30,000 more satellites in orbit
  • These satellites, if approved, would bring the count up to 42,000
  • The firm is set to launch hundreds or thousands of them over the next year

Elon Musk envisions Earth’s orbit swarming with SpaceX’s Starlink satellites.

The CEO has just filed paperwork with the International Telecommunications Union for the operation of 30,000 more small devices.

The California company will have a total of 42,000, if approved, and it plans to launch hundreds, potentially thousands, into our low-orbit over the next year.

However, critics have warned that the Starlink project, and others like it, will lead to light pollution – in the form of streaks that can already be observed from here on Earth.

Elon Musk envisions Earth’s orbit swarming with SpaceX’s Starlink satellites. The CEO has just filed paperwork with the International Telecommunications Union for the operation of 30,000 more small devices (pictured is a simulation of Starlinks blanketing Earth with broadband)

Musk has high hopes for his satellites, by experts in the past has condemned it over fears it will blot out the night sky and make scientific research more difficult.

A network of 60 communications satellites was sent into orbit around the Earth aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket on on May 23.

The craft are the first in a planned fleet of 12,000 such objects, designed to provide high speed internet connections to homes and businesses back on the surface.

Over the summer, SpaceX had lost contact with three Starlinks orbiting earth, leaving experts concerned over the potential for such satellite mega-constellations to add to dangerous orbiting space debris.

The California company will have a total of 42,000 if the proposal is approved and it plans to launch hundreds, potentially thousands, into our orbit over the next year

But this does not seem to put a damper on Musk’s plans.

The billionaire is set to release hundreds or even thousands of the satellites into orbit over the next year.

SpaceX’s recent filing provides details about frequency usage, proposed orbital altitudes, and the number of satellites it desires.

However, it does not clarify the date of launch or a deorbit timeline.

WHAT IS STARLINK AND WHAT ARE ITS GOALS?

Elon Musk’s SpaceX has launched the first sixty of its ‘Starlink’ space internet satellites.

They are the first in a constellation of thousands of satellites, designed to provide low-cost broadband internet service from low Earth orbit.

The constellation, informally known as Starlink, and under development at SpaceX’s facilities in Redmond, Washington.

Its goal is to beam superfast internet into your home from space.

While satellite internet has been around for a while, it has suffered from high latency and unreliable connections.

Starlink is different. SpaceX says putting a ‘constellation’ of satellites in low earth orbit would provide high-speed, cable-like internet all over the world.

The billionaire’s company wants to create the global system to help it generate more cash.

Musk has previously said the venture could give three billion people who currently do not have access to the internet a cheap way of getting online.

It could also help fund a future city on Mars.

Helping humanity reach the red planet is one of Musk’s long-stated aims and was what inspired him to start SpaceX.

The company recently filed plans with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to launch 4,425 satellites into orbit above the Earth – three times as many that are currently in operation.

‘Once fully deployed, the SpaceX system will pass over virtually all parts of the Earth’s surface and therefore, in principle, have the ability to provide ubiquitous global service,’ the firm said.

‘Every point on the Earth’s surface will see, at all times, a SpaceX satellite.’

The network will provide internet access to the US and the rest of the world, it added.

It is expected to take more than five years and $9.8 billion (£7.1bn) of investment, although satellite internet has proved an expensive market in the past and analysts expect the final bill will be higher.

Musk compared the project to ‘rebuilding the internet in space’, as it would reduce reliance on the existing network of undersea fibre-optic cables which criss-cross the planet.

In the US, the FCC welcomed the scheme as a way to provide internet connections to more people.

The firm will soon be required to disclose more details about the satellites with the FCC if they hope to access the US market to offer broadband services for the new 30,000 satellites.

In its filings, SpaceX said the additional 30,000 satellites would operate in low Earth orbit at altitudes ranging from 1,076 feet to 1,922 feet.

SpaceX said the satellites will have steerable spot beams to link with customers, and ‘omnidirectional’ beams for spacecraft telemetry, tracking and control functions.

Once filed, SpaceX has a seven-year deadline to launch at least one satellite with its requested frequencies and operate it for 90 days.

It is not guaranteed that, by submitting numerous filings, SpaceX will build and launch 30,000 more satellites.

Tim Farrar, a telecom analyst critical of SpaceX, tweeted that he was doubtful the ITU will be able to review such big filings in a timely manner, and that SpaceX’s goal instead is to ‘drown the ITU in studies’ while proceeding with its constellation.

Drivers are more likely to crash 'if danger appears mid-heartbeat'

Drivers are more likely to crash if danger appears in the middle of a heartbeat because tiny blackouts slow down reaction times, scientists claim

  • Researchers at the University of Sussex tested a virtual reality driving simulator
  • They found people were slower to react to obstacles coinciding with heartbeats
  • This may be because sensors in the arteries have an impact on brain processing
  • But far more things would have to go wrong to cause an actual crash, they said

Drivers are more likely to crash their car if a dangerous obstacle appears while their heart is contracting, according to scientists.

Researchers say that during the most strenuous part of a heartbeat sensors in the arteries cause the brain – for a fraction of a second – to slow down.

Danger that appears during this split second, the researchers said, might take longer for the brain to process and therefore be more likely to cause a crash.

Heartbeats can’t be avoided so it’s a game of chance, but the scientists put a caveat on their finding saying the heart factor would make up a minuscule part of the risk.

People whose hearts are beating fast, therefore, might be more in danger because they have more of the miniature blackouts.

Drivers are more likely to crash their car if a dangerous obstacle appears while their heart is contracting, according to scientists (stock image)

Researchers at the University of Sussex designed a virtual reality driving game to test how different phases of the heartbeat affected the drivers.

They found that during systole – the part of the heartbeat in which the heart’s largest chambers contract to force out blood – there was a change in the reaction time.

People reacted slower to obstacles when their hearts were forcing blood out than they did when they were relaxing between beats, the New Scientist reported.

Blood pressure sensors called baroreceptors in the arteries are activated during this phase.

As well as firing in time with heartbeats and regulating blood pressure, these sensors also appear to briefly block activity in parts of the brain when they’re working.

‘There seem to be “better” and “worse” cardiac phases for sensory processing. It’s unclear, however, whether that’s a bug or a feature,’ said Dr Michael Gaebler, a scientist at the Max Planck Institute in Germany.

The Sussex researcher who presented the discovery, Professor Sarah Garfinkel, said: ‘If you’re driving and you’re in a highly aroused state and your heart is beating strong and fast, you will have more cardiac systoles, and that is going to impair your reaction time and ability to avoid objects.’

Past research has found this phase of the heart’s activity has other effects on the brain.

People seemed to feel less pain or fear, for example, during a systole than they did when the heart was relaxing.

And they were more likely to forget words if shown them at the same time as a heartbeat, Professor Garfinkel said.

Other studies have suggested the activity of the baroreceptors can have a direct impact on electrical activity in the brain, although the extent of this is less clear.

The Max Planck Institute’s Dr Gaebler added: ‘My guess would be that while cardiac-related perceptual fluctuations may contribute [to accidents], a lot of other things have to go wrong to lead to an accident.’

DRIVERS SHOULD SAY ‘BIKE’ WHEN THEY SEE A MOTORCYCLE SO THEY DON’T FORGET

Drivers should say ‘bike’ out loud when they see a motorcycle so they don’t forget about them and cause a crash, according to experts.

In a study a team of researchers from Nottingham University found people were five times more likely to forget seeing a bike than a car.

Although they couldn’t explain the memory lapses completely, they found that people’s brains were less likely to remember a motorcycle at all.

Instead, people appeared to become distracted during the time between seeing the bike and deciding to pull out.

The Nottingham team suggested a difference in the way drivers’ memories work when they see motorbikes could be partly to blame for some of these deaths.

In a simulated experiment they found that, on 15 per cent of occasions, drivers had looked at approaching vehicles but completely forgot about them.

And in 180 memory tests, people failed to report a car three times but failed to report a motorbike 16 times, despite looking directly at them on 11 of those occasions.

The researchers called this a ‘Saw But Forgot’ error, and said it could account for some cases in which drivers were blamed for simply not paying enough attention.

Instead, their working memory – which holds temporary information – had ‘overwritten’ what they saw during the time between looking to one side and actually pulling out onto the junction.

‘These studies demonstrate that even in safety-critical situations it is possible to observe dramatic failures of visual memory,’ said Dr Peter Chapman.

Lamar Odom Wants More Kids and 'Thinks' Girlfriend Sabrina Parr Is Ready

What’s next for Lamar Odom after his Dancing With the Stars exit? The former NBA player wants to expand his family!

“I think I want more babies,” the season 28 contestant, 39, told Us Weekly exclusively on Tuesday, October 8. “Twin boys, then I’m out of the game.”

When asked if his girlfriend, Sabrina Parr, is on the same page, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum replied, “I think so.”

Odom shares Destiny, 21, and Lamar Jr., 17, with his ex-wife Liza Morales, and both of them showed up to support their dad the night he was eliminated from the ABC show.

“It just so happened that the first time they see me dance, I get eliminated, but it’s all good,” the Darkness to Light: A Memoir author told Us. “It was a humbling experience for me and my family members, I would say. But being humbled is important in life. It keeps you grounded.”

Last month, Odom made his relationship with Parr, 32, social media official, captioning an August Instagram post: “‘It’s just like when you’ve got some coffee that’s too black, which means it’s too strong, what do you do? You integrate it with cream… But if you pour too much cream in it, you won’t even know you ever had coffee. It used to be hot, it becomes cool. It used to be strong, it becomes weak. It used to wake you up, now it puts you to sleep.’ – MALCOLM X @getuptoparr #blackroyalty.”

The Khloé and Lamar alum added, “My post goes out to the new leading woman in my life, that I’m gonna tell every day how beautiful she is, from the inside out. Thanks @getuptoparr for teaching me what real self-value means. It changed my entire mindset.”

The New York native was previously married to Khloé Kardashian before the Revenge Body host, 35, filed for divorce in 2013. She withdrew this following her ex’s near-fatal drug overdose in order to care for him, and their divorce was ultimately finalized in December 2016.

“Doing reality TV and being married to Khloé — besides having children and doing the motivational speaking I’m going to start doing — was the most memorable and the best part of my adulthood,” he told Us exclusively in June. “Hopefully me going into public speaking can even bring me closer to the Kardashians and help me rebuild that bridge.”

Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.

Jennifer Aniston Looks More in Shape Than Ever in New Pics

All hail Body Queen Jennifer Aniston. The Friends actress may have turned 50 years old in February 2019, but you’d be forgiven for thinking she was 40 — or even her 30!

The youthful California native is basically the godmother of all things fitness and diet in modern Hollywood. Since the early 1990s, when she first appeared on the scene as Rachel Green, to her marriage to her equally toned and tanned ex-husband Brad Pitt in 2000, she ruled the ’90s pop culture scene — and the wellness trends that went with it.

Though she loves the occasional indulgence of her favorites (Mexican food and a margarita), she’s famously disciplined with her plant-based diet — even eating the same salad every day for 10 years during Friends.

As for her fitness routine, the always bikini body-ready actress has spoken extensively in the past about loving meditation and yoga with famed instructor Mandy Ingber. In fact, in 2014, Ingber gave Us the secret to getting Aniston’s svelte physique — long, lean muscles, toned abs and all. “Yoga, cardio and eat really, really cleanly,” said the guru. “No sugar! She’s a no-sugar girl.” Other than that, Aniston’s key was and is consistency in her fitness plan.

Though the Dumplin‘ actress still keeps a yoga practice, she has many other exercise routines and fitness tips and tricks up her sleeve for staying in tip-top shape. Among the activities in her regimen? Cardio like spinning and Taryn Toomey’s cult-favorite group class called, well, The Class. She’s also taken up boxing with trainer Leyon Azubuike, the founder of Gloveworx.

“The thing with Jen is that she works out very hard and very intense, so the workout is ever changing,” the pro told Us in August 2018 of Aniston’s training sessions. “It is always evolving because I have to continue to challenge her.”

The boxing coach added that it’s not easy helping Aniston maintain her physical perfection: “Jen is one of those anomalies, she is ageless,” he told Us. “So at this point in her career, it is about keeping her there. That is the difference between Jen and someone who is going through some sort of transformative program. With Jen, the challenge is less on Jen and more on her coach — me. She is at the top of her game all the time.”

More women than men run marathons – and runners have never been older

More women than men now run marathons – and runners have never been older with an average age of 39, study finds

  • A little over 50 percent of marathon runners today are women
  • The percentage of women marathon runners has risen from 20 per cent in 1986
  • The average runner is 39.2 years old, and the average marathoner is 40

In 2018, more women than men ran marathons for the first time, according to a new study.

The percentage of marathon runners made up by women has risen dramatically, going from 20 percent in 1986 to a little over 50 percent in 2018, making it the first year more women than men ran marathons.

At the same time, marathon runners have never been older.

The average age of runners around the world has been steadily rising, from 35.2 in 1986 to 39.2 in 2018

The average age of marathon runners has risen from 38 in 1986 to 40 in 2018, according to the study, a collaboration between Danish research firm Run Repeat and the International Association of Athletics Federation.

The average age of general runners has also steadily increased even more, going from 35.2 in 1986 to 39.3 in 2018.

The average woman runner is 36, while the average male runner is 40.

These demographic shifts have posed some challenges to marathon organizers around the country.

Runners of all distances have gotten steadily older over the years, and marathon runners are the oldest, with an average age of 40

‘Twenty years ago, you ran a marathon,’ Virginia Brophy Achman, one of the organizers of the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis-St.Paul, told the Star Tribune.

‘But [baby] boomers are aging out and younger people have so many choices — not only shorter, more manageable races, but they’re going to the gym, they’re doing CrossFit and yoga and biking,’

The Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis-St. Paul has seen the number of marathon runners decline, as people have developed interests in other fitness activities, including CrossFit, yoga, and biking

‘They’re combining travel with a race.’

‘Our greatest challenge, and I think the industry’s as a whole, is to resonate with this demographic.

The Twin Cities Marathon as seen enrollment in its shorter distance races increase at the same time as full marathon participants has declined

Today, marathon runners appear less interested in optimizing their times than they are the experience.

‘Maybe the average runner today is more focused on a good experience than an achievement than before – not saying it’s overshadowing the achievement motive, but saying that maybe achievement means less today, relatively to the experience itself,’ the study authors say.

Iceland is the nation with the highest percentage of women runners, with 59 per cent.

The United States has the second highest percentage of women runners at 58 per cent, followed by Canada, Ireland, and Australia.

The countries with the highest percentage of men runners are Switzerland, Japan, India, Italy, and Korea.

The United States has the second highest percentage of women runners in the world, second only to Iceland. Switzerland has the lowest percentage of women runners

The rising popularity of ultra marathons and other extreme running events may also have contributed to some declines in completion times as fewer expert or experienced runners are among those still competing.

Average completion times for both men and women have gone up over the last 30 years.

Marathon completion times have gone up for both men and women, something researchers say could be caused by expert runners shifting focus to ultra marathons and other extreme races

In 1988, the average woman finished a marathon in four hours and 13 minutes.

In 2018, the average finish time for women had risen to four hours and 51 minutes.

For men the finish time in 1988 was three hours and 45 minutes and in 2018 had risen to four hours and 21 minutes.

WHY ARE MARATHONS 26.2 MILES?

The marathon was inspired by the legend of Philippides, who supposedly ran from the town of Marathon to Athens to warn Greeks that a Persian army was invading.

The distance from Marathon to Athens  was roughly 25 miles.

The first marathon was run during the inaugural Olympic Games in 1896.

The original distance was 40,000 meters, or 24.85 miles.

Only 25 people competed in the marathon, and only 9 finished.

Spyridon Louis won the first marathon with a completion time of 2 hours 58 minutes.

At the London Olympics in 1908, the distance was increased to 26.2 miles to ensure the course passed in front of the Royal Family’s viewing box.

The first women’s marathon was  held during the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

The Batman To Reveal More Cast Members Soon [Rumor]

All we know about The Batman is that Matt Reeves will be the director, and that Robert Pattinson will replace Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight.

Other than that, the rest of the cast – and the overall story plot – has yet to be revealed. Fans of the DC Universe are waiting anxiously to find out more details about the next Batman film, but it sounds like they won’t have to wait much longer.

According to Mark Hughes of Forbes.com, Reeves “is now in the process of casting major roles,” for The Batman. Not only that, but Hughes added that “several casting announcements will be coming” in short time.

As many know by now, popular comedy actor Jonah Hill has been mentioned heavily as a potential casting choice for the film’s villain. The roles of Penguin and Riddler have been linked to Hill, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

On top of that, Jeffrey Wright has been linked to the role of Commissioner Gordon. Hughes added that we can “expect to hear official confirmation” for both Wright and Hill to play the commissioner and a villain, respectively.

Related: Maggie Gyllenhaal Says Robert Pattinson Will Be “Great” As Batman

The late Pat Hingle portrayed Commissioner Gordon in the first four Warner Bros. Batman films: Batman (1989), Batman Returns (1992), Batman Forever (1995), and Batman & Robin (1997). Gary Oldman then took on the role for the Christopher Nolan trilogy.

As for Penguin, the character hasn’t appeared on hasn’t appeared on a Batman live action film since Danny DeVito played the role in Batman Returns (1992) nearly 30 years ago. Jim Carrey was the last person to portray Riddler in Batman Forever. It’s been a long time coming for both villains to return to the big screens, and Hill will finally end the drought for one of the popular Batman foes.

Justice League (2017) was the most recent live Batman film to hit the big screens. It received plenty of negative reviews, so the pressure is on Reeves to make it better. Adding Hill and Wright to the movie would certainly be a nice start.

More than 130 dolphins die on island beach off West Africa in mysterious mass stranding

Over 130 dolphins die on West Africa coast

People attempted to drag some of the dolphins back to sea, but many dolphins returned.

More than 130 dolphins died on an island beach off West Africa last week in a mysterious mass stranding event that has left experts puzzled as they investigate the cause.

Locals and tourists found around 163 melon-headed dolphins stranding themselves on a beach on the island of Boa Vista, BIOS Cape Verde, a volunteer environmental association, wrote on Facebook Wednesday.

Hundreds of volunteers tried dragging the mammals out to sea. Despite their best efforts, many returned to the shore where they died.

Bulldozers buried 136 dead dolphins on the beach.

Scientists from BIOS took samples from 50 dolphins and froze four carcasses for a necropsy, the group wrote Friday.

An official with the organization told local news outlet OPAIS on Saturday that there was still no “right explanation” for the deaths.

Spanish veterinarians from the University of Las Palmas in Spain's Canary Islands are due in the coming days to perform tests on the carcasses.

Yum! Julia Louis-Dreyfus, More Emmy Goers Pose With Chocolate Selfies

Stars love sweets, too! During the 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, which honored the best in TV at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 22, the Lindt Chocolate Lounge was the place to be.

Inside the room, which was painted in the chocolate brand’s signature red hue, presenters, nominees and winners were able to catch up, sip on cocktails and create their very own personalized Lindt Chocolates with help from some of the Swiss company’s master chocolatiers.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, for example, happily posed with a white chocolate square that prominently featured a snapshot of her face taken in real time. The sweet treat also sported a circle around the edible photo, that boasted the words “Lindt chocolate” and “71st Emmys.”

Later, the Veep star, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on the HBO show, caught up with pal Viola Davis by the bar.

Elsewhere, presenters Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner talked to Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner, who, along with many members of the GoT cast, was tasked with presenting the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.

Though it’s unclear whether this photo was taken before or after the Kar-Jenner sisters were seemingly laughed at as they presented the award for Best Reality TV Show Competition, rest assured that the famous siblings at least had access to some fancy chocolates in spite of the embarrassing moment.

Oops! Justin Hartley, More Celebs Share Parenting Fails on Emmys Red Carpet

These moms and dads aren’t holding back! Justin Hartley and other celebrities spilled their parenting fails on the Emmy Awards 2019 red carpet.

“When my daughter was a little toddler, I took her out on a field trip,” the This Is Us star, 42, told Us Weekly exclusively on Sunday, September 22, while wearing an ISAIA tuxedo. “I think we went to a ball game, we went to the mall, we were doing all kinds of stuff, and then I drove her home. We were gone, like, six or seven hours. We were having the greatest time, and she gets out of the car, runs to the kitchen, grabs her high chair and just starts shoveling Cheerios into her mouth. I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, I didn’t feed the child for, like, seven hours.’ … [But] she made it. We’re doing well.”

The actor, who shares Isabella, now 15, with his ex-wife, Lindsay Korman, learned from his mistake, though. He explained to Us, “Now I have a Google Calendar invite that’s like, ding. Feed your kid. You’re having too much fun taking photos and not getting food.”

The Los Angeles native has starred on the hit NBC show, which has been nominated for 19 Emmys this year, for three seasons, and the role of Kevin Pearson has rubbed off on him.

“I don’t know if any of the lessons [I’ve learned] are new, but just reinforcing what I already knew to begin with — patience, learning that your kids are sort of ever-changing as you are. They’re almost doing it at a faster rate,” Hartley told Us. “I have a 15-year-old daughter that has all of this responsibility right now and not a lot of power, so that’s probably where a little bit of the angst comes from. I know that would get on my nerves.”

He added, “It’s just about sort of listening and understanding the other person, listening to their heart and not so much what’s going on.”

Watch the video above for more funny parenting fails from Robin Thicke, Padma Lakshmi and more.

Parents, Siblings and More! Celebs Bring Family Members to Emmy Awards

It’s a family affair! Sofia Vergara, Sandra Oh and other celebrities have hit the Emmy Awards’ red carpet with their family members.

In 2017, the Modern Family alum brought her then-25-year-old son, Manolo Gonzalez-Ripoll Vergara, to the awards show. While the actress wore a strapless white gown, her son, who she shares with her high school sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez, posed in a tux. The pair were all smiles on the red carpet, and Manolo poked fun at his presence on Instagram later that night.

“Always glad to be her Plan B when Joe [Manganiello] is busy making movies. #WheresJessicaLange #Mamacita,” he captioned a social media upload at the time, referencing his mom’s husband.

Manolo, who has also appeared in Head & Shoulders commercials with Vergara, went on to reference the American Horror Story alum in multiple Instagram posts, writing, “Jessica Lange, I’m coming’ for ya! #Emmys2017” and “I’m honestly just here for Jessica Lange.”

One year prior to their Emmys appearance, Vergara opened up about the close bond she’d developed with her son as a single mom. “He always supported and helped me, made it easy to be able to work,” the Golden Globe nominee said in her Harper’s Bazaar Arabia cover story. “I never had to worry about him. When you have a problem all the time, you are unable to be creative and think. As a single mother, I was able to do everything I wanted to do.”

The tables turned in 2018 when Oh brought her mom, Young-Nam Oh, and her dad, Joon-Soo Oh, as her Emmy Awards dates. This was a big evening for the Killing Eve star as she became the first woman of Asian descent nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Her mother, who was wearing a traditional hanbok on the red carpet, gushed over the actress’ success at the time, telling Variety, “I’m so proud of her,” before kissing Sandra on the cheek.

The Grey’s Anatomy alum joked, “Oh, my God, that happened on film!”

More than 100,000 cancer cases could be caused by contaminants in tap water, study finds

Fox News Flash top headlines for Sept. 20

Fox News Flash top headlines for Sept. 20 are here. Check out what’s clicking on Foxnews.com

A toxic cocktail of chemicals found in U.S. drinking water could be the cause of more than 100,000 cases of cancer, a new study by the nonprofit Environmental Working Group (EWG) found.

“The vast majority of community water systems meet legal standards,” said Olga Naidenko, Ph.D., EWG’s vice president for science investigations, in a press release.“Yet the latest research shows that contaminants present in the water at those concentrations – perfectly legal – can still harm human health.”

The study, published in the research journal Heliyon, conducted an assessment of 22 carcinogenic contaminants which meet national drinking water standards and found that a majority of the risk is due to arsenic, disinfection byproducts and radioactive contaminants. Overall, tap water exposure to the carcinogens studied leads to 105,887 cases of cancer in the U.S. over a statistical lifetime, or 70 years. This is the equivalent of four cancer cases per 10,000 people.

MOSAIC DISCOVERED IN ISRAELI 'BURNT CHURCH' MAY DEPICT JESUS' MIRACLE OF THE LOAVES AND FISHES

Luckily, use of a water filter decreases the risk of exposure to these contaminants.

Cancer risk assessments are standard for air quality evaluations under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the study is the first of its kind to perform a comprehensive cancer risk assessment of drinking water pollutants.

FIVE INCONVENIENT TRUTHS ABOUT THE 'CLIMATE STRIKE'

“Drinking water contains complex mixtures of contaminants, yet government agencies currently assess the health hazards of tap water pollutants one by one,” said Sydney Evans, science analyst and lead author of the paper, in a press release. “In the real world, people are exposed to combinations of chemicals, so it is important that we start to assess health impacts by looking at the combined effects of multiple pollutants.”

The study analyzed water quality profiles for 48,363 community water systems, which provide water for around 86 percent of U.S. homes. The other 14 percent rely on private wells for drinking water.

The study found that the risk is higher in the western part of the country, due to water scarcities faced there. “Drier conditions decrease water availability from surface water sources, concentrate contaminants in the existing water sources, and prompt communities to use groundwater resources even in areas where underlying aquifers may have higher levels of arsenic or radioactive chemicals,” it found. It also found that those who rely on public water sources in smaller communities are more at risk than in larger ones.

The study reiterated that most of the water they tested was in compliance with national drinking water standards. E.P.A. data show that only 4.5 percent to 5.5 percent of community water systems had serious violations from 2014 to 2017.

“We need to prioritize source water protection, to make sure that these contaminants don’t get into the drinking water supplies to begin with,” Naidenko concluded.

Numerous other contaminants which could potentially be hazardous to public health were not able to be included in the study.

Do Kids Get More Confident as They Get Older? We Asked Them & NOPE

Parenting is all about balance, and helping develop our kids’ self-esteem is no exception. It’s a fine line between raising courageous, bold, strong, and confident kids — and raising over-entitled humans (umm, let’s be honest, over-entitled men) who think the world owes them. And as much as we parents may think — or at least hope — we’re striking the right balance, what do the kids think? Do teens feel they’re gaining confidence as they grow…or losing it?

We followed a group of tweens and teens for five years to find out exactly that.

When we first met Bailey, Evan, Gabrielle, Julia, Juno, Jojo, Reed, Sabine, Sadie, Skye, Zaki, and the 14 other kids we interviewed, they were as young as 9 years old. Today, they’ve grown into well-spoken teens and young adults. But how have the past five years shaped their confidence levels?

“I feel less confident than five years ago,” 14-year-old Julia tells SheKnows, “because now there’s a lot more pressure. Like, even what you wear…and academically.” And she’s not alone; the vast majority of the kids we interviewed voiced a notable drop in confidence compared to their 5-years-ago (often preteen/tween) selves.

“Five years ago, I was definitely more confident, because I was so young,” agrees Sabine, who is now 14. “I didn’t care about the way I looked; the way I feel about my body…has definitely gotten worse as I’ve gotten older.”

According to The Confidence Code for Girls by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, by age 14, boys’ confidence levels are 27% higher than girls’. And Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls reports that by puberty, 50% of girls feel paralyzed by fear of failure.

Why the downfall in confidence levels during adolescence? Our interviews show a definite trend: The main confidence-crushing culprits are body-shaming and pressure (from peers and parents) to succeed.

“There’s definitely more expectations for me,” says Bailey, comparing her current 14-year-old self to her 10-year-old self. “I feel like it puts a lot of pressure in ways that, I feel like if I mess up, I’m disappointing a lot of people.”

“When I was nine,” adds 14-year-old Jojo, “I wasn’t really thinking about what I looked like; I was only really thinking about dancing, or, like, peanut butter, I dunno! And now I focus a lot on what other people think of me and how other people view me instead of how I should be viewing myself.”

The Confidence Code authors Kay and Shipman explain that for most girls/women, that looming 27% confidence gap that appears around puberty never really closes. So what can parents do to help kids combat that confidence loss and #CloseTheGap?

Take the fear out of failure.

It’s actually not only valuable to let your kid fail; it’s crucial to teach them how. According to the Child Mind Institute, kids who believe that failure is unacceptable are less confident and less resilient — and they’re afraid to take risks. Which brings us to…

Encourage them to take risks.

And if they don’t succeed, it’s not the end of the world. “Failing can be reframed as trying, practicing and putting in effort,” Clinical psychologist Dr. Jamie Howard tells SheKnows.

Validate their experiences.

Observe, recognize, and “validate how your child is feeling,” licensed certified clinical social worker Katie Austin tells SheKnows. Whatever you do, even if the topic or concern at hand seems silly to your adult eyes, “don’t dismiss how they are feeling,” Austin urges parents.

Practice positive reinforcements.

Quite a few studies have reported positive outcomes with positive reinforcement (no surprise there); a recent one published in The Journal of Marriage and Family wrote that “maternal warmth” and praise from the mother had a significantly positive impact on children’s social competence — especially when compared to negative reinforcements/punishment, such as spanking.

Encourage volunteering.

It’s remarkable how giving back can change a kid’s perspective for the better. Then there’s the fact that volunteering teaches compassion, empathy, gratitude, and confidence. The warm fuzzies are just a bonus.

Get them involved in sports.

According to the Aspen Institute, active kids can score up to 40% higher on tests and are 15% more likely to go to college. How’s that for a confidence boost?

Cultivate their strengths.

Kids will be more confident and more engaged if they’re focused on things they’re good at — and actually interested in. So if you always dreamed of raising a soccer star but kiddo’s more into science? Take our advice, parents: Back off. Let her do her.

And most importantly: Be there.

“There are some things which the kids will go through alone,” explains 14-year-old Reed. “And the parents’ job there is…they don’t need to understand. They just need to be there and support them.”

Iranians seize two more British women

Iranians seize two more British women: Ex-Cambridge academic and blogger trekking with her boyfriend are thrown in the same hellhole Tehran jail currently housing Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe

  • The women are incarcerated in the same prison as Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 41
  • One works as lecturer in Australia and the other is blogger who is travelling Asia
  • They were taken to Evin jail, in Tehran, after being arrested in separate incidents

Iranian authorities have arrested two female British dual nationals along with one of the women’s Australian boyfriend and moved them into a notorious jail in Tehran, according to reports.

The women have been incarcerated in the same jail where Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 41, a British-Iranian mother, has been held since 2016 over accusations of spying.

One works as a university lecturer in Australia and previously studied at Cambridge University.

The other is a blogger who was travelling in Asia with her Australian boyfriend.

The women have been incarcerated in the Evin prison in Tehran, pictured, where Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 41, a British-Iranian mother, has been held since 2016 over accusations of spying

They were reportedly taken to Evin jail, in the capital Tehran, after being arrested in separate incidents, as reported by The Times.

The women are thought to be the first British passport holders without Iranian nationality to have been jailed in the country for several years.

The arrests come amid heightened tensions between Iran and Britain. Dominic Raab, the foreign secretary, summoned Tehran’s ambassador to London for talks yesterday over an Iranian oil tanker seized in Gibraltar.

Mr Raab said EU sanctions have been breached by the transfer of the oil to Syria.

The blogger has been detained in a ward for female political prisoners where Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe, is currently held.

The blogger has been detained in a ward for female political prisoners where Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe (pictured), is currently held

She and her boyfriend were arrested about ten weeks ago as they travelled in Iran during a trip they had been blogging on social media.

They started their journey in Australia about three years ago and followers of their accounts have posted concerns about their recent silence.

A source told newspaper that Iranian authorities told the woman she was being held in a bid to orchestrate a prisoner swap with Australia.

The same source said the lecturer is in solitary confinement after she was sentenced to ten years in prison for an unknown offence. The sentence is common for foreign nationals charged with espionage.

Tulip Siddiq, Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s Labour MP, told The Times: ‘This terrible news shows a clear escalation of Iran’s hostage diplomacy.

Mr Ratcliffe, pictured outside the Iranian embassy in London in June, said Iran must be made to understand that ‘hostage diplomacy is not OK’

‘Soft diplomatic responses to Iran’s illegal and inhumane treatment of British prisoners have been a failure.’

Richard Ratcliffe, Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe’s husband, told the paper: ‘I complained to the foreign secretary last week that we’d been seeing an escalation from Iran in recent months, even since our hunger strike, publicly taking Nazanin to hospital in chains and restricting her visits and calls, new big sentences announced for other innocent people, and more British citizens being taken, even non-Iranian.’

He said Iran must be made to understand ‘hostage diplomacy is not OK’ and the UK Government ‘cannot keep sitting quietly by while ordinary people are being taken as bargaining chips’.

The Foreign Office declined to comment.

More than half of Brits are unhappy in their homes and dream of moving on, survey finds – The Sun

MORE than half of people are unhappy in their homes and dream of moving on, a survey has found.

They long for a bigger home, with size taking over from location as the biggest factor in making a forever home.

Price, closeness to green spaces and parking are the next most important things.

Bill Bailey, from online estate agent nested.com, which carried out the survey, said: “As a nation we are unsatisfied where we currently live — with the majority of us planning on moving again in order to bag that property of our dreams.”

The survey shows 53 per cent of homeowners want to move — but some are more content than others.

In Leicester, London and Plymouth about two thirds have itchy feet whereas, in Belfast, the proportion is just a quarter.

More than half (57 per cent) say size outweighs any other factor in finding a dream home.

The number of bedrooms is second most important ahead of location.

Fact: Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa’s son, Sebastian, is nailing the back-to-school footwear game. (Also, how can you not be confident you’re in for a great year when you have Snoop Dogg commenting on your BTS pics?!)

Send love to Lauren Conrad, who’s currently balancing the back-to-school blues and pregnancy hormones. You’ve got this, mama!

Kensli Bennett

Chance the Rapper’s daughter, Kensli, looks confident and oh-so-stylish as she heads into a brand-new year. (But, seriously, do they make that jacket in adult sizes?)

Sonny Rosenman

Not all back-to-school sendoffs have to include tears. The Hills star Whitney Port said she kept a dry eye as her son, Sonny, started a “toddler transition class.” If only there was a course on getting our curls to stay as bouncy as his!

Carmen, Rafa, Leo, & Romeo Baldwin

Sometimes, the “First Day” pics don’t turn out exactly as you plan — and that’s just fine! While Hilaria and Alec Baldwin’s kids Carmen, Rafa, and Leo managed to keep their first grade, Pre-K, and “three” signs nice and crisp, baby Romeo had other plans. The end result was still cute, wrinkles and all!

Heaven, Hendrix, & Kenzo Hart

Eniko and Kevin Hart’s son Kenzo has two great role models, older siblings Heaven and Hendrix (whom Kevin shares with ex-wife Torrei Hart), to show him the ropes — and he couldn’t look happier.

Naleigh & Adalaide Kelley

Katherine Heigl was that mom as she serenaded daughters Naleigh and Adalaide with “an embarrassing cheer” for their first days of school. We don’t know what’s cuter: the chant or the girls’ faces as they heard it!

Harper Hammer

Elizabeth Chambers and Armie Hammer’s daughter, Harper, was apparently more excited about “the trash cans” than her darling back-to-school outfit. Hey, whatever makes her happy!

How to write a more efficient to-do list

What have you really achieved so far today?

Can you remember the first task you did when you sat down at your desk this morning?

To answer those questions, you probably need to look at your to-do list.

People use a huge range of methods and different things work for different people.

Laura uses a whiteboard, literally rubbing things off as she completes them. She works on a weekly cycle, hoping the board is empty by Sunday so she can have some family time.

Robyn uses a paper day diary. She explains: ‘It means I can be specific about when things need to be done, schedule follow-ups etc.’

Some use apps – Trello, Google Docs or just the Notes app.

Another person explained they use a detailed Excel spreadsheet. They said: ‘It is updated daily (and works best out of everything I’ve ever tried). I use filters to find what I need easily, and to categorise order of importance.’

Others prefer pen and paper. Stephanie said: ‘I have used apps before but find writing it down physically on paper and placing it on my bedside table (or a place I look at every day) is better.’

Studies have shown that writing things in longhand over typing them does help you remember them better, but writing what you need to do on your phone means that you always have it with you and you can sync it between devices.

I’ve tried so many methods but few have stuck. I over-plan, underachieve and find myself getting overwhelmed and demotivated.

Currently, I’m trying to keep a very straight forward (though I do have dreams of creating something Instagram worthy) bullet journal, to try to remind me what to do each year, month, week and day.

It involves a blank notebook – creating an index, a yearly, monthly and weekly planner and then a page for each day. I use a key to code what stage different tasks are at and split them into work and life on each page.

If tasks aren’t completed, they are migrated to the next page.

But no matter what I do, I never complete everything and lots of tasks just get moved from each day. Sure, it might be that I’ve taken too much on, but is my to-do list hindering rather than helping?

Making your to-do list an efficient method that makes you remember everything but doesn’t become a chore in itself is a bit of an art form.

Neuro-linguistic programming expert Rebecca Lockwood explains why to-do lists are a good idea: ‘It’s important to have a to-do list so you can stay on track of what you are working on and not become distracted with something else, like scrolling on Facebook.

‘Having a daily to-do list to work towards will keep you focused and on track to achieve the things you are working on.

‘It enables you to have quick wins and keep your blinkers on and focus on what you are doing daily. This will help keep you motivated to achieve the next check off and keep you moving in the right direction.’

Writing these lists gives your brain a workout and helps you to see things more clearly.

Rebecca adds: ‘By writing your to-do list down you are activating the neuro-pathways in your brain and also a cluster of neural-networks in your brain called the reticular activating system.

‘This will then enable you to begin to notice opportunities that arise that will help you achieve your goals and work on your to-do list, it will keep you more focused and motivated giving you quicker wins and opportunities to celebrate your success.’

But you need to make these lists achievable – a list with more incomplete than completed items at the end of the time period you set makes you feel like a failure.

Dr Alison Watson, undergraduate business programme team leader at Arden University, explains: ‘The biggest mistake people make with to-do lists is that they over-plan.

‘This can lead to demotivation and items being transferred over to the next day. The feeling of being overwhelmed and underachieving can creep in.’

Often we write what we would like to do rather than thinking about what is actually achievable. And when you aren’t realistic about what you can actually do that day, prioritising the most important items becomes more difficult too.

Dessy Ohanians, MD Corporate & Certificate Programmes, London School of Business and Finance, adds: ‘Often, people don’t prioritise properly as they make their list whilst they’re writing it.

‘As they write their list, new thoughts occur to them and they add new tasks them haphazardly. Better instead to write a draft list, give it some consideration, and then re-write it with each task prioritised into a relevant place on your list.’

Creating an efficient to-do list isn’t just about what is on the list – you need to think about when you write it, how you write it and way you organise it.

Some list fans had some handy tips to get the most out of your list.

Vik Turbine explained: ‘I also do a ‘done list’ at the end of the day to see where my time has went if I don’t get all the things done.’

Natasha Woodford adds: ‘Always prepare your to-do list last thing the day before. This way you know what you’re to get started on as soon as you walk in.’

There is some evidence that writing your list at night is a good idea. An (admittedly small) study last year showed that writing a to-do list before bed can help you get to sleep, for example.

So how can you really get the best out of your to-do list? Experts agree that they work if you limit the tasks and review them regularly.

Business coach Linda Davies Carr, from The Master Fixer explains: ‘We know that writing down goals makes a huge difference and you’ll have a significantly higher chance of achieving them and writing down your to-do list is exactly the same principle.

‘So carve out five minutes at the end of each day and write down on paper, three to six tasks you need to achieve the following day. No more than six.

‘Then take five minutes to review the list in the morning and get to work. Don’t overthink it, keep it simple and get it done.

‘I’d recommend crossing out the task in a big black marker – the sense of achievement will motivate you to keep going.’

And when it comes to prioritising, you need to be strict. Really think about what must be done that day, rather than what you would like to do that day.

Professional organiser/declutterer Lizzie Grant, founder of Simplify Stuff, explains her method: ‘Put the three most important things at the top of your daily to-do list or star or highlight those items on your list.

‘To decide which three items make the cut, ask yourself which tasks have to be done that day? What tasks will have negative consequences if you don’t do them today? Which items will make you feel better having done?

‘Prioritise those three items so you ensure they are completed that day. If you have time, try to complete them as early as possible in the day and try not to move on to any other tasks before you have done so.

‘If you find it hard to get motivated to tackle your to-do list, put a couple of five-minute tasks at the beginning of your list to ease you in – the feeling of being productive can spur you on to tackle the bigger tasks on the list.’

Whether you find you love a post-it note or never put pen to paper, the key to an efficient list is being realistic.

Set your goals for each day and if there’s too much on the list, leave some of the items for tomorrow.

Now go forth and write your to-do list. At least I can tick off ‘write to-do list article’ on mine.

Brits spend more than three hours a day on their phone on holiday

BRITS will spend more than three hours a day on their phone while on holiday, a study has found.

The poll of 2,000 holidaymakers found 38 per cent are now more likely to sit on their phone as they lounge around the pool, rather than read a book.

As a result, the average adult will spend four hours over a week-long holiday on Facebook, and the same amount browsing Instagram.

They’ll also spend 27 minutes every day scrolling through Twitter, and 33 minutes daily playing games on their phone, while relaxing in the sun.

DIGITAL AGE

Another half hour will be spent looking at online news, and they’ll stream almost seven hours of videos during the average week-long break.

In comparison, the poll by Carphone Warehouse found just 57 minutes a day will be spent reading a book or magazine while on holiday.

However, it also emerged nearly a fifth worry what others think of them if they are always looking at their phone while they sunbathe.

One in 10 have even had someone sarcastically roll their eyes at them, or comment on their phone use, as they hold their mobile instead of a book by the pool.

And when they see someone reading by the pool rather than with their nose in a phone, 43 per cent view that person as being more intellectual.

USE OF 'PHONE BOOKS'

In response to the findings, Carphone Warehouse was involved in the development of a prototype range of ‘Phone Books’ as a helping hand for Brits who still want to use their beloved handsets, without a sidebar of shame.

The ‘books’ look and feel like weighty novels – but have a cavity on the inside for users to secure their mobile phone or tablet, so they could check their social channels or stream a series, while others think they’re deep into a classic piece of literature.

A spokesperson for Carphone Warehouse said: “It’s no secret Brits love to look at their phones – and often feel self-conscious doing so.

“Just because we’re away on holiday doesn’t mean life has stopped, there are still tweets to be sent and news to catch up on.

“One in 10 respondents like the idea of being able to disguise their phone use while on holiday, so this is why Carphone Warehouse has been involved in the development of a prototype range of ‘phone books’ to provide the perfect solution.

“We believe people should be allowed to relax however they like on holiday.

“Usually, it’s a break from work that’s needed, not a break from anything else like our phones, or friends and family at home.”

Controversially, the study found that despite being happy to use their own phones, 37 per cent admit to judging someone as being ‘social media obsessed,’ when they see others sitting on their phones on holiday.

And more than one in 10 of those polled, via OnePoll, think they must be a workaholic, while almost one in four believe it means that they must struggle to relax.

Beyonce and More Celebs Who've Rocked Baby Bumps on the VMAs Red Carpet

Bumping along! MTV’s Video Music Awards have become a popular place for pregnant stars to showcase their budding bellies.

In fact, Laura Perlongo has done it twice. In 2016, the Michigan native’s bare baby bump was on display in an unzipped green jacket, a silver body chain and black pants. Her husband, Nev Schulman, cradled her stomach and knelt down to kiss it while wearing a matching green button-up.

Two years later, when Perlongo was pregnant with her and the Catfish star’s second child, she opted for a tamer maternity look, pairing a red pantsuit with a white crop top and black heels.

The couple, who share Cleo and Beau, aren’t the only parents who have turned the VMAs carpet into a makeshift maternity shoot. In 2011, Beyoncé announced that she and Jay-Z were expecting their first child without saying a word. Queen Bey simply put her hands around her baby bump in an orange gown and smiled for the cameras.

Inside the show, the “Love on Top” singer began her performance by saying, “Tonight I want you to stand up on your feet. I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me.” When the song ended, she unbuttoned her blazer and rubbed her stomach.

“I put a lot of thought into how I wanted to unveil it,” the former Destiny’s Child member told Harper’s Bazaar later that same year. “It was important to me that I was able to do it myself. I was extremely nervous. It was the toughest red carpet I ever did … I decided to say nothing and proudly show my baby bump. I felt it was more powerful to see the love and enthusiasm as opposed to saying anything.”

Her daughter Blue Ivy arrived in 2012, followed by twins Sir and Rumi in 2017.

Keep scrolling to take a look at other celebrity moms who have rocked maternity looks at this iconic red carpet over the years.

Prince Andrew ‘has had more than 1,000 lovers’, friends claim

Prince Andrew faces claims he ‘has had more than 1,000 lovers’ amid furore over his links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein

  • Close friend insisted that Prince Andrew has never slept with any teenage girls
  • They also added that the Duke of York balances a ‘playboy’ lifestyle with family
  • Prince Andrew faced intense scrutiny over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein

Prince Andrew is facing claims that he has had more than 1,000 lovers in more lurid allegations following the suicide of Jeffrey Epstein.

According to the Sun, close friends say sex is ‘a big thing’ in Prince Andrew’s life, though they insisted that he is ‘not into young girls’.

The Duke of York has faced intense scrutiny in recent weeks after his close relationship with billionaire paedophile Epstein was revealed, with photos showing him with his arm around the waist of the disgraced financier’s ‘sex slave’ Virginia Roberts, then aged 17.

However, Andrew, according to the friend, is just into ‘straightforward sex’ and has never slept with teenagers.

The source added that the Duke of York has balanced a ‘playboy’ lifestyle with his royal duties and responsibilities to his family.

Prince Andrew’s playboy lifestyle and apparent desire for new relationships is also the reason he hasn’t re-married Sarah Ferguson, friends claim

The Duke of York has faced intense scrutiny in recent weeks after a picture emerged of him with his arm around the waist of Epstein ‘sex slave’ Virginia Roberts when she was 17

Andrew’s apparent desire for new relationships is also the reason he hasn’t re-married Sarah Ferguson, his inner circle claim, though the former couple remain close.

The friend said: ‘He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke and he doesn’t take drugs and never has, but sex is his big thing in life.

‘He was known as Randy Andy for a reason when he was younger and it’s never really stopped.

‘Travelling all over the world as the UK trade ambassador and for other royal duties has given him access to some beautiful women and he’s taken full advantage.’

Prince Andrew was introduced to Epstein in the 1990s and remained a friend even after the financier served a 13-month sentence for having sex with underage girls and became a registered sex offender.

The Duke of York was also romantically linked to Bond girls Carolyn Seaward (left) and Katie Rabett (right)

Epstein’s ‘sex slave’ Virginia Roberts alleged in court documents that she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York when she was 17.

She claimed that Andrew slept with her three times, though the royal has strongly denied the allegations.

And his close friend insisted that, even though he has had ‘liaisons’ with more than 1,000 women, he’s not interested in teenage girls as beautiful women find him ‘appealing’.

Prince Andrew brushed off the furore surrounding him this week with a round of golf in Spain, where he is on holiday with ex-wife Sarah.

He remains close with Sarah because he needs the ‘stability’, according to the friend who admitted that most of Andrew’s romances quickly fizzle out.

Divorced couple Andrew and Fergie were seen getting off a private jet at Malaga Airport last week following Epstein’s suicide in New York.

The Duke and Duchess were driven by limousine to the luxury Sotogrande resort, where they have holidayed together since 2009 often in their favourite private villa valued at upwards of £38million.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement said this week: ‘The Duke of York has been appalled by the recent reports of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged crimes… and the suggestion he would condone, participate in or encourage any such behaviour is abhorrent.’
